I thoroughly enjoyd the PS2 trilogy, man, I played the shit out of those games. Couldn't really get into the first PS3 one (which name escapes me, at the moment), sadly.
Are they still being made by Insomniac, or are they only making Resistance games now?
I 100%ed #3, almost 100%ed #2 and began 100%ing #1. They're all good for different reasons.
Fuck Gladiator. It was fun playing through co-op, but it lost most of the appeal in the constant arena.
The Future arc was great. ACiT would have been awesome if it was longer. It went by way too quickly for me and there were too few weapons. What was there was good, but it needed to be in more quantity.
Quest for Booty was nice. You pay less and get less, but it was nice.
Tools of Destruction was brilliant. Great variety of worlds, weapons and characters. My favorite game in the series.
Size Matters combined crappy gameplay and PSP graphics with brilliant ideas.
The PS3 games were much more solid, smooth and bug-free (with the exclusion of first person mode). There was a larger story and a larger world. Insomniac generally do something to change the way the game plays with each game and I feel this was just right with ACiT. ToD worked brilliantly as well, though.
I only have the first one, I always preferred the Jak and Daxters games.
I think they should stop making them and introduce some new franchises, Innsomniac is too creative to keep rehashing the same shit over and over again. IMO

I was more of a Jak & Daxter kind of guy as well, though its only the first in that series that really parallels with Ratchet & Clank.
Ratched and Clank games from 2 introduced strafing (and in the original croughing and flipping produced similar resaults) whereas Jak II+ left you without this feature. I dislike this.
I perfer Jak when I want more of a challenge, but Ratchet and Clank when I want to commit to something untill I finish it completely
Personally I like Ratchet way more. The series has a great sense of humor and has very lovable characters.
Jak on the other hand just doesn't cut it for me. Jak 3 and Jak X were especially disappointing but Jak 2 was amazing.
Let me go though the games i've played.
R&C 1: I didn't really get into it, i didn't really like the story but it was great never the less. The lack of strafing was a big downer for me (I played R&C 2 First Before 1)
R&C 2: It had all the good bits of R&C 1 with a better story, graphics and weapons. The new sense of humor was really funny too.
R&C 3: One of my favorites in the series, I really enjoyed the mini-missions, Starship Phoenix and the Mutiplayer too. I've played through it numbers of times and enjoyed it every time.
Tools of Destruction: Fantastic, My favorite Game in the series, I was amazed by the graphics and gameplay. The Weapons and characters were all fantastic (Mr. Zukron is amazing)
A Crack in Time: Brilliant, I found it one of the most in-depth R&C games, The story was very good. The introduction of freerom in your ship was also a great idea.
Size Matters: I didn't like it that much, It was also too difficult. Fire Wrench was baddass though.
BUT WHATS THIS! A NEW GAME
Insomniac do an amazing job at the series, A lot better then Spyro the Dragon.
Loved 1-3 on the ps2, thought 1 had the best story and 3 the best gameplay. Gladiator was ok.
On psp I completed Size Matters but just couldnt get into Secret Agent Clank.
Playing Crack in Time at the moment, but haven't played Tools of Destruction or Quest for Booty so I've missed a chunk of story. I'm enjoying it but something about it feels slightly off, I think the auto-aim might be too forgiving.
Thats the thing about ratchet & Clank, comparing to Jak and even the original Crash Games. Its incredibly easy first play through. there is an odd occasion that I'll get stuck somewhere on a level though.
and I never borught the armour, its more of a challenge completeing the game with it. (I always didn't like the final upgrade manly because you can't see ratchet)
I've played all the the games on ps2, and they were all great. The weapon upgrade system in 2 onwards was a great idea. The second one is most possibly my favorite. Unfortunatly I don't own a ps3.
Damn.
Some of the best bits was in the Insomniac Museum. I once stayed up til six o'clock to get into it. Then I realized I could change the time on the console.

Hey, you're not the only one Mr. Spandexpants. I'd like to play some of the new ratchet games (seeing as they DON'T come out on 360), but I don't have a ps3 and I'd rather not waste time saving up for something that doesn't exactly WOW me.

Tools Of Destruction Will WOW you.
It remands one of the best Ratchet and Clank games (Some even say THE Best) and has the best graphics I have ever seen on a 3D adventure game.
I've never played Quest for Booty but I have played Crack in Time and that is one hell of a brilliant game.
