More importantly, what do YOU think of this? Create some sort of discussion.

Better yet! Write about it yourself!

For others who can't be bothered to watch the video, it basically asks why magazing/the media portray size 0 to be sexy, and asks how this affects people globally. It shows standards created by celebrities, and shows the pictures before and after they've been touched up by photoshop.

Then it says, "If your idea of hot & sexy is a computer generated fake image..." then shame on your naughty people, wrong answer!

Has size 0 [and the hype to be skinny or pretty] affected you in your life? Or even people you know? And how do you feel about this?

I'm sure to an extent we've all been affected by this issue - I used to be obsessed with my weight. And was constantly bullied in school for being 'ugly' and 'fat'. Looking at pictures in magazines and women on tv, even today, I went [and sometimes go] away thinking "my body doesn't look like that..." And it really gets me down. I know it's all computer imagery but I'm almost 18, and my body doesn't look like the girls on TV.

I have friends, myself included, who spend an absolute fortune on make up to hide all imperfections. It does very little but due to this perfect society that we impose on ourselves I can't actually leave the house without make-up. My ex-boyfriend was the only person outside of my family to ever see me without make up. It's almost like a mask by the time you 'get addicted' to it.

I do think though, that alot of the issues about size 0 aren't helped by bullying. If it didn't happen [obviously a little to idealistic for the real world ^_^;;] I highly doubt so many people {womena nd men alike} would fall to the 'fad'.

Anorexia itself is a medical condition and the people it affects can't help the way they are. It's a horrible disease to have, my friend used to have it, and she became so ill she was in hospital for a while... It's not something they can help and I feel that this thread is inappropriately named.

It's quite depressing that people are so bothered about their weight. Sure, I don't mind people losing some weight, some of my family members are. But to become anorexic, there's something that's bothering that poor person to let them become like that. But I hate the celebrities like Paris Hilton, who do it constantly for no reason other than to look 'Sexy'. Looking like a stick doesn't make anyone sexy.

Anorexia is largely thought of to be a result of combined factors, a genetic inheritance can make you more susceptible to eating disorders but an external social stimuli is required to 'set if off' if you like.

Paris Hilton is not anorexic, one of the clear symptoms of anorexia is 'Person is not aware of and denies any weight problem', in this sense pro Ano websites do not provide for anorexics anyway, just depraved and confused masochists.

Exactly, anorexics never see how skinny they are, even if they're rail thin they're still going to think they're fat. And that just makes me think how much the ideals of beauty have changed. I mean, the ancient Greeks, for example, used to think that the heavier a woman is, the better...and they had a good point, too, cause it's easier to bear children when you have wider hips. What on earth made it evolve into the exact opposite?

Man that beat is bangin'.
And where did they find that instrumental version of Way I Am? I want it.

On topic:
Although a couple of those super skinny pictures were fake (I rememeber them from another forum) being stick thin isn't that hot, I think the world is slowly turning around on that one though, celeb magazines are always raggin' on people when they get too thin.

Being plump was attractive because that was a sign of wealth. Today, the poor people in the western world tend to be obese and the extremely wealthy are unhealthily thin.
