Native Glukkon Classes

Since munch's oddysee came out and introduced the different glukkon ranks, looking back on the first 2 games what classes would you say the 4 main glukkons would fit into?
i'd say

Mullock - Big Cheese
Dripek - Wannabe
Aslik - Big Cheese
Phleg - Wannabe

Possibly. I think Dripik, Aslik, and Phleg were all the same rank, as the pins on their suits were all about the same height. And the shoulder pads. Etc. I could be wrong though. Molluck was definitely a Big Cheese. Gotta love him. [:

I agree with the fact Molluck was probably a Big Cheese

But I think it's more something like this:

General Dripik - Big Cheese
V.P. Aslik - Wanna Be
Director Phleg - Wanna Be
Brewmaster - Wanna Be

yeah I think that's true because if you look at General Dripik and Molluk you notice that their shoulder pads are bigger then the ones of the other 3...
btw isn't the information of their ranks at the official side of OWI O_O?

I dunno that. But I do remember it saying in Aslik's profile that he disliked being in a lower rank than the others and thus dressed better. So he might be the only Wannabe. Or might not. Eep.

Are you sure Lacy?

Look at the main picture here: http://www.oddworld.com/universe/ind.../ow_aslik.html

It looks pretty high up to me.

But anway this is how it goes:

Molluck: Big Cheese
Brewmaster: Big Cheese
Dripik: Wanna-be
Aslik: Wanna-be
Phleg: Wanna-be
Lulu: About everything

Molluck was definitely a Big Cheese, you can tell if you look at his shoes : P
So were Dripik, Aslik and Phleg, seeing as they were all in charge of independent companies.

Actually, I'd say the Brewmaster is the only Wannabe in the list:
:
Molluck, the CEO of RuptureFarms, entrusted the company’s SoulStorm™ Brewery to this less than competent Glukkon.
He's not a CEO, he works for Molluck, so he's below him on the status ladder.
And his shoulder pads aren't that big either.

Good point, I don't think we ever found out who the "President" was. I just assumed he was in charge of FeeCo.

Wait a second, VP Aslik is in charge of FeeCo.:

:
Glukkon in charge of FeeCo Depot. The Trains will run on time! Loves decorating and wearing designer suits. Returns videos unrewound.
Odd. Maybe FeeCo. is actually a branch of some larger company, otherwise a Vice President wouldn't be running it.

Molluck was the President of the company that owned Rupturefarms, Magog Mining, Feeco, Bonewerks, Slig Barracks and the brewery. All of the above Glukkons were the second tier of manager, in charge of specific divisions.

That would explain their general incompetence, but does this mean that Aslik was SECOND IN COMMAND of all these endeavors? O.o

That was what I based my guess on. But I somehow got the impression General Dripik had more responsibilities then simply to supply Molluck's factories with Sligs...

All the factories in MO were provided with Sligs too, do we assume they come from another place than Dripik's Slig Barracks?

Well, there's more than one Brewery and more than one Rupturefarms. My guess is that the Slig Barracks were a franchise too.

But where it's mentioned that FeeCo and Barracks were subdivisions of Molluck's company?
I think Slig Barracks were a completely separate establishment or may be even a part of military. I assume it was just a single training camp in some sort of slig military training and service fascilities that, aside pfom other functions, provide sligs for Magog's installations.
And as for FeeCo I think it's a part of a country-wide transportation system that is an independant legal and financial entity. But it's still unclear wether Molluck owned a share in it or whatever.

I think the ranking was like this:
Molluck - Big Cheese
Drippik - Big Cheese
Aslik - wanna-be
Phleg - wanna-be
Brewmaster - wanna-be

Dripik is a military man. He's all about making himself look bigger and more impressive. Besides, a lot of that extra shoulder is actually just the lapels.
That said, there's no reason that he can't be a Wannabe and still work for Molluck. The classes represent wealth, not position.

If OI had inveted glockstars before they invented Molluck I'm pretty sure he'd be a glockstar. Compare him to the CEO of Flub Fuels (who is a Glockstar).

Molluck the Glukkon—he’s just a chump in the scheme of things. Sure, he seems like a big guy out here running the third world meat plant but then we come out here and look at DuPont or Proctor and Gamble. Now, you’re going to be an executive at Proctor and Gamble and you’re going to say ‘Very good, welcome aboard! We’re sending you off to… the middle of the Sahara Desert to run our gas line.’ So Molluck is a guy who got shafted out to the third world to manage this factory and he’s just out there until he can afford his house in Lake Como, so to speak.
Also... no, I shouldn't be at work.

Interesting... Molluck's enterprise is even bigger than I thought. That still confuses me how Dripik being a military officer is in subordination to Molluck and why Slig Barracks, as a military object, could be a part of Molluck's company. Or Dripik is a former military officer and Slig Barracks is a sort of non-military security training facility owned by Molluck?

Because Dripik's a coward and built the whole facility for his own protection. (Alf's Rehab and Tea 8D ) I think he had military training, but I think he just likes to wear the uniform to impress everyone. Same thing with Glukkon suits - they dress to impress. I thought Molluck and the others got their sligs from Skillya? Molluck just owns all the businesses, while Dripik, Aslik, and Phleg manage them - which you all know. There's more than one Slig Barracks, and more than one FeeCo Depot, etc. who are probably managed by different Gluks. I don't know where I'm going with this.

If Molluck wasn't a Glockstar, he was probably close to that point up until profits went down. Had he been able to market the sale of Muds, he might've gotten more money and might've gone that far.

My brain just collapsed.

No, Glokstars are real superstars, which Molluck wasn't. Even Big Cheese is quite a long way from Glockstar. I doubt Lulu ever really qualified, but he enabled the illusion by spending his money only on office décor, suits, airship tickets and gabbiar (and I expect the first three were on credit).

You're thinking in terms of Planet Earth national militaries. The Sligs are not an army; they're mercenaries. They train and work and fight for money, not national duty. Thus Slig Barracks definately is a business and not national service.

The Munch's Oddysee categories of glockstar, big cheese, etc, are pretty unhelpful and only really relevant to the mechanics of that game

I've heard it's hard to get sligs to do much of anything beyond being a yes-man, much less function in an army. I forgot who said it. Might've been Alf. Interesting. I always thought it could be used in much any series. But maybe I was wrong. |D
