Hi all! I've been lurking here awhile and decided it was time I come out of the shadows and get to know you better

I'll start by introducing some of my characters, I suppose. BTW, if these don't show up, I apologize...my server is being dodgy.

First up we have Akya, a mudokon raised in in Vykkers Labs and unaltered genetically to preserve her reproductive organs to be used for breeding stock. She has mothered over eight children, all of which were taken away at birth to be sold as slaves to willing companies or used as test subjects. She has not seen any since.
When she had passed her prime breeding years, she was sold for private ownership to one of the higher-ranking slig guardsmen employed at Rupture Farms. He kept her as a concubine, decorating her with gaudy colors and jewelry (hense her colorful headfeathers) and made sure that she was kept "gainfully employed" on the floor of one of Molluck's private airbases during his absense.
After the fall of Rupture Farms and Soulstorm Brewery, she and the other scant amount of mudokon slaves that were kept stowed away at the airbase as workers went undiscovered for awhile and were kept working as surviving executives discussed what was to be done about Abe's meddling and the uprising and escape of their mudokon work force.
A month or so later, word finally trickled into the tribe of the remaining slaves in the airbase and a rescue mission was formed at once. Akya, along with fourteen others, were led from the binds of confinement and welcomed into the tribe...however, happiness was not to be had so easily.
Shortly after her escape, Akya discovered that she was, one last time, bearing child...this time, not a mudokon child but the child of her slig captor as a product of the time he had forcibly spent with her. She kept it a secret as long as she was able, planning to steal into the forest on the day of her child's birth and destroy it to keep it from harming the others should it turn out to be like its father.
On the night she went into labor, she crept into the forest, thinking no one had seen her leave...however, two crucial people had. Bigface and Abe, who had been standing atop a nearby cliff that overlooked the village while exchanging stories, had seen her go.
Thinking that it was one of the younger hunters disobeying the elders' rules of not going into the woods to hunt after nightfall, the two of them lit off after her, expecting to find a gangly male clumsily stalking a larger piece of nocturnal game he had found...but neither had been prepared to see what awaited: Akya, haggard and exhausted, clutching a thick branch and poising it threateningly over a newly-laid egg.
After getting an explanation and rescuing the unborn child, Akya was assured that, hybrid or not, it was not the tribe's way to destroy mudokon life without just reason and that the child would be parented by others of the tribe if she didn't want a part in raising it since they had no assurance that it would be born evil.
Arrangements made and fears quieted, Akya was brought back to the tribe where she makes her home to this day, disregarding any knowledge of her child or previous life and working her piece as a tailor, making clothing for the tribe and trying to forget her past. She is most easily distinguished by her wildly colored headfeathers and a black scar over her left eye marking her as her owner's property.

Next is HodgePodge, Akya's hybrid son. After being rescued from death while he was still in his egg, HodgePodge was taken under the wing of the tribe and raised by a pair of midwives who, due to the lack of the tribe's output of children, had nothing better to do with themselves.
He is described as "quirky" at best because of the two bloodlines conflicting within him that have driven him a bit crazy. Sometimes he hates himself for being a slig and other times really questions himself as being a mudokon. He sometimes feels like an utter outcast, despite the tribe's care and often questions who his parents are. Since his father is likely dead and his mother wants nothing to do with him, he has been brought up believing that no one knew who they were.
He is an aspiring warrior, though overzealous at times and tends to be admonished for goofing off instead of being serious. HodgePodge doesn't seem to understand what that's all about...after all, what's a better battlecry than "STAND BACK AMIGO!!!! THIS LOOKS LIKE A JOB FOR THE ANTICHRIST!!!"
Having no parental role models, he often seeks solace from Bigface as far as where his life is going. Bigface has told him that once the conflict within himself is at peace, it will be easier to decide where his future path will lead.
Umm...anyway, so hi
