Landmarks that You'd Like to See

Or have seen. Feel free to describe great places you've been lucky enough to see too.

Someday I hope to visit the Little Mermaid statue in Copenhagen, Denmark. Silly thing I've wanted to do since childhood because my favorite book was Hans Christian Andersen's the Little Mermaid.

And since I'm into marine biology and a scuba diver, I would absolutely love to dive in the Great Barrier Reef.

Unrealistically, I'd like to see the Egyptian pyramids and other ruins. I've always been interested in Ancient Egyptian stuffs.

I always wanted to see the MI6 goverment building in London, it just looks freaking cool and last year I got the chance to see it . Me and a Brittish friend walked around the building and took some pictures of it.

Another place I always wanted to visit were the Twin Towers. But yea, that dream collapsed on me.

I like to visit certain places because of the great looking buildings. Empire State building, Millenium Building, Sears Tower, Petronas Twin Towers...
Non of them are realy landmarks I think, but still would like to visit them. I have a thing for huge ass buildings .

Someday I hope to gaze upon the Great Pyramids of Egypt, or walk through the Colosseum.

Well I've seen plenty of landmarks but I'm not too sure how many I really dreamed about seeing in advance.

Big Ben - a couple of times. I've got relatives in London.
Empire State Building - was pretty cool. I like that sort of 1920's art deco design. The view was okay but a bit misty.
Ground Zero - they do a pretty good job of blocking any clear view of the place.
Statue of Liberty - not as big as you'd think.
Ellis Island - dull to someone who isn't descended from American immigrants but they do sell damn good coffee.
Niagara Falls - also not as big as I thought but still pretty damn huge. And wet.
Golden Gate Bridge - windy. Very, very windy.
Alcatraz - also quite small but kinda creepy.
Plenty of landmarks in Israel like Masada and the Western Wall. I also visited the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, which is where Jesus was crucified and buried.

What do I want to see?
Rome, to see the Coliseum and also all the more modern sculptures and artwork (ie the ones constructed in the last 400 years).
Spain to see the architecture of Antonio Gaudi.

There's probably some more but I've gone blank.

Yeah, I've been to the Golden Gate Bridge and to James Bond's(I don't know his real name) house. Honestly, I swear, I have. My aunts friend lives behind it.

I have been very lucky in seeing great sights. They are not landmarks, but I lived in Indonesia for 6 years and live in Sedona.
Sedona is "known for its Red Rocks" and Bali, Indonesia is just the best place in this world. It's so great.

I have always dreamed of being able to go to Okinawa, japan, or Bali. From what I've researched on the two places, they seem like paradise.

1)The beautiful 2)Gothic cathedral 3)at Reims.

I first saw some video footage of this in World History class a few weeks ago, and I'm absolutely in love with it. I've seen pictures of monuments, and I've seen actual monuments, and I've usually said "meh" to them. Okay, they're big and/or old and/or historic. Wonderful. But something about Gothic cathedrals really strikes a nerve in me, and the cathedral at Reims is the most stunning and beautiful one I've seen. Someday I'm going to make a pilgrimage to France, and take a long look at some cathedrals. It's sort of amazing... it's like a testament to the human spirit that such beautiful things could have come out of a time period in which there was constant plague, famine, war, death, et cetera. SQUEE!

*goose bumpy*

Also, Notre Dame, Chartres, and Mont Saint Michel because they're all stunning and highly recommended.

Big Ben would be a must-see if I ever travelled to the England area. Same goes to the Gold Gate Bridge if I were in California, but I'd be too afraid of crossing it. Gothic Catherdrals... amazing architecture. I considered listing that, but I didn't know any specific names.

Seeing concentration camps and such places from WW2 would be interesting but also sad, naturally. My friend went to one during her trip to Germany; she felt creeped out and really sad the entire time yet interested.

I'd also like to visit any famous "haunted house" 'cause I'm silly like that.

Auschwitz was pretty crazy, rooms full of human hair and glasses from just the last batch of arrivals. Plus the drawings scratched into the concrete walls by people who were starved to death as punishment. I forgot where I was going with this so yeah, landmarks, whooo.

Even though I'm Jewish, I have no desire to go to Auschwitz. I was discussing going with my father this year - he wants to go to Poland to visit his parent's hometowns - but both of us feel a little too disgusted to go near the place.

It has a certain " unsettling " feel to the place . In the books ive read , the nazis hid the " showers " ( * cough * GAS CHAMBERS * cough * ) Behind the trees so the jewish people wouldnt be bothered by them .

Filthy filthy nazis tsktsk tsk

* Walks off mumbling *

Nice to know the amazon jungle was able to camp in Auchwitz, snoozer.

I don't know, I thought it was great to learn about all those whacky theories of the Nazis when I went on the field trip to the Holocaust Museum in Washington DC.

They did sick tests on people of all targeted cultures. I saw a man being depressured in a room, eventually his skull cracked and his brain was exposed. Apparantly it was to test air pressures for fighter pilots.

I realy fancy a visit to Japan,Tokyo. It has futurisic like tall buildings and modern innovational technology, and some interesting crazy things to see and exprecience. Yeah, it looks very fun and eye-grabing. I also love the old culturial bakcground of it aswell the modern stuff.

I always wanted to go to New York, it's got tall sky scrappers, and very city like. I also want to see places in the US, like the grand canyon, dessert areas, and mabey LA. Something along those lines.

I want to see Italy at one point, becuase it was where I originaly came from and I never managed to see it and feel it propely, and I'll probably love the food.

I've been to London a few times, I live close to it, like 150 miles. But I want to go there again. I am getting a bit fed up with sitting here within a small village.
