Fugly trends in clothing

These are the top 3 (as I see them)
Pseudo dresses: What is with this? They're not really dresses, they bunch and flop around. They look like cheesecloth abominations.
The "Fishing Lure" Earring: Really, when did it become popular for chicks to wear spoons and spinners 4 inches long on their ears?
Chicks wearing tight clothes with sayings on them.
Darling, I don't mean to be rude, but you're 275. Last time I checked that would disqualify as being a boy magnet.
The color pink: I know, I've whined about this before.
Band shirts for sucky bands
Artificially ripped and faded clothing: Holy "shirt", did I just get transported back to the 90s? Hey, it looked stupid when I was 7, it looks stupid now. Enough already. And if you're going to buy ripped or faded clothing and be an a-hole, at least do it right. Pick the one that doesn't make you like a douchebag impostor. Perfect looking machine rips just expose you for the tool that you are. That is all.

I kind of agree with all of you. I feel that it is a right for some people to look stupid in public places.

Yeah, you have a point. It was my opinion, and I didn't mean to insult anyone's style/fashon. Just thought it was kinda funny.

Funny :P But really, people wear what they want, and i desagree with what Statikk just wrote. Those types of clothes don't look stupid on evry-body. Imean a young, beautiful chick can make almost evrything look good on her.... And pink shirts for boys rock

Pffft. Clothes are for WHIMPS! On my planet, we have very cool looking carapaces, so noone covers them up.

The first humans did, as being a hairless monkey in an ice age gets you nowhere.

Humans evolved in Africa, where the climate is warm enough for us not to have fur. We started oozing into modern-day Iraqland, and from there began spreading all over the planet. To enter Europe's climate, though, we needed clothes. It's perhaps the first example of humans adapting the environment to suit their needs rather than evolving to suit the environment.

I'm not so concerned about people's semi-individual tastes. What pisses me off is the fashion pushed by clothing firms. This year's autumn catalogue seems to be the most ugly, haphazardly-thrown together collection of aweful fabrics and furs. Thinking about people deciding this stuff suits them simply because it's in the shops genuinely makes me sad and pessimistic.

I remember reading an article that proposed that humans lost their fur as an evolutionary defense against various parasites. Huzzah!

I've yet to decipher the snow boot + skirt idealogy. Snow boots are supposed to keep your feet nice and toasty and comfortable over the rugged, icey terrain, no? Skirts are to either feel a nice breeze upon the legs/genitals. If you're in a situation that requires snow boots, would the breeze then not be of an undesirably low temperature?

Then again, selling yourself as a living oxymoron seems to be the trend these days. It's worked for intentionally underproduced "garage" rock revival, it's worked for rebels shopping at Hot Topic, and I suppose it can work for people passing off completely illogical fashion combinations.

A Hot Topic came to my town a few months ago, but I haven't shoped there. Most of my peers have gone there and they say it puts out quite decently.

I find fashion bewildering. What makes something 'in'? I don't have a problem with people wearing what they want, I simply can't understand why what some people 'want' is dictated by fashion designers and magazines. Is it a desire to fit in? If someone genuinely likes their clothing, I don't really have a problem with that, but when people just start following trends for the sake of it, it can have nasty results. Eight-year-old girls with fake tan on their stomachs anyone? While not an item of clothing, it goes to show what happens when trends are blindly followed. I'm not saying that anyone wearing 'fashionable' clothing is a blind sheep, but some people won't suit the current trends at all, but still follow. If people only wore clothing that suited them would the designers still have such power over the clothing choices of the public?

I like Hot Topic, it's one of my favourite stores. They should bring it over to the UK. I think it has the best stuff ever, and I like trying everything on [even if I can't buy it] .

For me, that goes hand in hand with make up and 5 year olds. Why would you give a small child make up to wear?

I think that most stuff that's fashionable is a load of BS. I mean it's like Ponchos or tweed. I never liked them and about 6 months after they became fashionable, they just died away.

You should just wear what feels comftable. And if that means wearing snow shoes and skirts, so be it...

What really scares me is seeing eight year old girls....
EIGHT YEAR OLD GIRLS!!!! in shirts that say "In Your Dreams" "Sexy" "Foxy" etc, etc, etc.

I like Hot Topic; and trying everything on is the greatest! It's my home away from home.

As for fashions, the ripped up, grass-stained jeans is stupid in my opinion. Who would pay $40 for pants that look like they were recently owned by a dirt-biker? It's positively INSANE! I totally agree with you, Statikk.

No offence to 10 year olds, but you don't have anything there at there age. It's rediculous.

And I agree Ann. *Shiver* That's be a scary halloween costume for any child.
