Help plz....

This is Something worthwhile

Ever wonder why we dont have cures for diseases yet?

Remember chicken pox? remember that you can get a shot now to prevent it?

Want to help cure diseases while you sleep?

Sign up your computer to analyze protien data for medical reasearch. A million processors can decode proteomes better than several super computers. Plus its a contest so we can compare scores :-) Just click the link and then click on "learn about proteome project"

http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/

Its like i just do nothing at all, but im aiding medical science in curing all disease, and beating you at the same time.

Think you can beat me? my score is like 15300 right now and going up daily. My account is "shinobi gaiden" (i dont know if you can check my score though) My team is "Ninja" (anyone can join it)

it functions as a screensaver (or background app)
i understand most people wont bother to sign up, but i would like you to at least read it. AND look at the section of completed projects too, its nice to know this really does help.
97% done!!
Processing at a rate of 70 years per day (151 thousand computers) the proteome folding project has progressed 18,562 years since it started. it will be done by next month.

Want to be a part of something huge? sign up here.

http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/index.html

There are more than 200 million americans

only 151 thousand, of the billions of people on this planet have signed up. Imagine if 1/200th of that signed up, that would still be 25 million computers. We dont even have one million computers yet.

No joke this is something worthwhile. check it out.

Just downloaded it.

Perhaps we could create a specific OWF team, to get a bit of team spirit.

I did this before, but there were doubts about whether this is for commercial use or not. I'm not slowing my PC down to help some noobs make cash.

This is slightly off the point, but why would you use a shot for something a stupid as chicken pox? If we did, then yes alot of people would be immune, but what if there was a huge epidemic in [say] 100 years? Would it kill people instead of putting them out of work/school for a week or so?

And as far as I can tell it's not mac compatible, so even if I wanted to, I couldn't

I think the chicken pox innoculation is not as common as the measles/mumps one for that exact reason but it is good for adults who've never had chicken pox, as catching it can be dangerous later in life.

There is no doubt in my mind.

Look how many schools signed up for this. Its not for profit though im sure people will use the research to make treatment-> and im sure some will profit because of this.

Also if you look at the numbers you arent slowing down anything. Your PC will work fine. It turns off if you need your processor.

I would rather help find a cure than not find one beacuse i dont want somoene else to be rich.

That's rather shallow and stupid. [And I don't want anyone else to be my Rich either ]
