Possibly the best news I've had all year.
And to think, I was genuinely scared of a Tory win late last night.
Fantastic, utterly fantastic result.

This win is probably going to kill my grandmother. She relies on support that she won't get with the current government.

So keep on cheering.

So she relies on support she hasn't had for 8 years..?

Anyway, I most certainly will keep cheering. Not because you'll blame the gov't for your grandmothers death, if she dies, though.

I wanted the Conservatives to win, because I don't want these annoying top-up fees. If the Labour party is supposed to be working for the people that aren't particularly wealthy, why are they introducing top-up fees and not abolishing stamp duty on houses under £250,000? It seems as though the Tories are more siutable for a modern Britain. Now we're stuck with another 4 ****ing years of that arsehole Tony Blair and his annoying wife. Erghh...

Also, immigration in Britain is spiralling out of control. Labour is just about letting any foreigner, legal or illegal, into Britain. Lots of these people just claim benefits and it's not fair! The Tories have the best policies, in my opinion. It's not racist to impose limits on immigration. The Tories would've let through legitimate asylum seekers who were actually prepared to put something back into the country.

Overall, I'm extremely disappointed with such a result...

Not being confrontational, but I beg to differ. I respect your opinions, though.

That's alright.

But to elaborate, Tony Blair is one of the best Prime Ministers Britain has ever had, successfully pulling the country out of the craphole the Tories left it in, in '97. Unfortunately, they ****ed it up so badly, he's still working on fixing a lot of things.

I agree. People may think that Blair is awful but they forget the hellhole of the 80's to mid 90's. Plus, voting for Lib Dems would just let the Tories win, Dems don't yet have the supporters they need. However, in a few years that could be a different story.

And Gordon Brown is like, the best chancellor ever.

Dino, out of intrigue, who would you like to have seen get into power? Realisticly.

I wrote a response to this thread but the forums assimilated it. Sorry.

I can't really be fucking bothered to re-write the whole thing, but the basic jyst of it was that no matter how much worse any previous government was compared to the current government, it doesn't change the fact that the government still sucks.

Tories still suck more.

And realistically, at the current time, no-one else can get into power other than Labour or Conservatives.

Can't stand Blair and his leering mug, but the idea of the Tories getting in was scary - they'd have bankrupted the country when they realised they couldn't CUT taxes and SPEND MORE on public services - since I can't see many ministers taking pay-cuts. Their entire manifesto seemed to be a case of nothing more than "Labour did this, so we'll do the opposite!"

Plus, Michael Howard irritates me even more than Blair.
