The Unofficial Guitar Thread.

Hello to you.

This is a thread where you can discuss anything guitar related, be it bass or banjo (Or anything else), post pics of your guitar, and submit tabs.

I shall start this session with a picture of mah pride and joy...

Here ye are.

It is a Carlos model. Sadly, I do not have an electric, but I am planning to hire-purchase on in the near future.

I have tabbed "Where is my mind" by "The Pixies" to start the tabbing off... Enjoy. Standard EADGBE tuning.

Bassline:
G|
D|
A|
E|1,1,1 10,10,10 5,5,5 6,6,6

Which is pretty much all of the bassline.

Electirc Guitar Chorus Thang:
E|
B| 10 10 10 10 10 10 :
G| 10 10 10 10 9 9 9,9 8 9,9 :
D|
A|
E|

And I'm working on the main guitar riff...

(Edit: Just for the record, the 10 on G and B are supposed to be one after another. This forum just posts thing weirdly.)

I play bass, and here's my bass. I edited myself out due to my insecurities.

I also have an electric guitar, but I only have that for a bit of fun and for riff writing, so I'm not going to worry about it.

Oh, and I wouldn't bother posting tabs and stuff, considering how readily available tabs are all over the internet, and how much better they are in Guitar Pro.

I play a Walden acoustic guitar, which I haven't got a photo of just yet, and it's not the only instrument I play, but the other isn't a guitar/bass so I won't elaborate(sp?).

If you're posting a tab, try using the (code) tags, but use [ instead of (. That makes it be monospaced, e.g:
:

E|
B| 10 10 10 10 10 10 :
G| 10 10 10 10 9 9 9,9 8 9,9 :
D|
A|
E|

Yup, these are my babies.

I forgot what the acoustic guitar is, but the other is an Ibanez S-470 Limited Edition. Uncolored version.

The elements/pickups are VERY strong, my friend has a RG, also 5 elements/pickups, and when I'm at full volume, he is MUCH more quiet. Sometimes that's annoying, cuz at guitarpractise, I have to lower the volume to hear him. And my guitar doesn't deserve that...

I see that Fax mentioned it here (I think...)
It is basically a computer program that lets you make tabs and hear them. Not only for guitar and bass but also for drums. It requires very little skill to use. I downloaded the demo and dicked about on it. You should check it out. The download demo is free.

I have a acoustic guitar. It's small becuase I don't want it big, no point. Anyway, I have to wait until the pictures get developed! So I can show it.

Nice guitars, everyone. I am trying to download the GuitarPro demo, but I am cursed with dial-up. 1.48mb out of 8.4mb in 30 or so minutes so far... Damn.

Here is a random question- Do you use picks? I personally can't use them, and just let the fingernails on my right hand grow long. It's like super portable picks you don't lose down the back of the sofa! But alas, quite the fashion statement, having one hand with extra long nails and one with none at all...

Oh, I forgot to say what kind my bass is. It's an ESP Viper 304.

I use a pick when I play standard guitar, but no way in hell on bass.

Whether I use a pick or not depends on what type of song I'm playing, if it's a soft-like one I don't use a pick or if it's classical guitar music I use individual fingers, but in most other cases I use a pick. I know what you mean about the losing the pick thing, though, I've got a pick holder on my guitar, and guess what? It's empty! On a side note, I had to have a big hunt today to find my capo, which was in a really simple place, as is always the case. This leads to another question, who here uses capos?

i have an Epiphone SG

nothing awesome, but it has a great tone.

i use only three strings and all of the strings are a step and a quarter[just a tiny bit past a quarter] detuned down.

it gives it a great sound. my amp gives it some serious fuzz, so i'm a big player of the shoegazer and post-rock.

Cool.

I do. Some songs require them.

I use a pick for both. Because my cheap Yamaha bass pickups sound like shit without a pick.
