Thoughts on more "feminine" female characters (Warning: Spoilers on character in OSW)

What makes Abe...Abe? Well, it's usually Lorne Lanning giving him his goofy, nasely voice so we can all identify him. What made Stranger? Again, that would be Lorne's voice being much deeper and darker.

(WARNING! SPOILERS!)

But in the game, there were 3 female characters (Jo'Mamma, Female Clakkerz, and female Grubbs) who were all done by either Lorne or the guy who does Clakkerz, but with the sound tweaked.

What would happen, I wonder, if Lorne gives more of a feminine role/personality to a female lead character? It can't just go around with the low tones that we men have in our voices, and then have the sounds tweaked like they did for Jo'Mamma or the Clakkerz. I'm saying that Lorne needs to think about hiring a wider range voice actors to be able to do what he's not.

What I'm saying is that Lorne isn't going to be able to do most of the voices forever, sooner or later down the road, he's going to need to hire people (women, kids, etc) to help him out.

So, what do you think? Agree? Disagree? Comments on my sanity?

Oh, and yes, I know that Lorne has issues with voice actors. I read theat part of the site.

just curious... where on the site does he mention that he has issues with voice actors?

About female characters... I have no idea. Lanning is pretty talented, but no one can do EVERYTHING. Maybe they could only use characters that he could voice? Of maybe he could get some of his friends and/or current Oddworld Inhabitants to lend their voices as well...

Women do work at Oddworld Inhabitants

So far, they've been proud of the fact they've done all of their voice acting in-house. This will probably not change in the foreseeable future. Luckily, the 'house' has it's fair share of women who may *possibly* be willing to voice act.
Or Oddworld could just tweak male voices enough, which is more than possible.

I like the fact that one guy does all the voices, kind of like a puppet show. Worse would be hiring personalities to do the voices - like say Mark Hamil or ??? *LOL*

I agree that they should get women to do the female parts. I didn't really care about Jo' Mamma or the female clakkerz, Or really even the female grubs, for that matter, but the female rebellion leader NEEDED to sound different. She had an important role to play, but when she opened her mouth, I couldn't believe she sounded exactly the same. It really threw me off. She's almost the Abe or Bigface of her people; couldn't they have made her voice just the little bit distinctive or feminine? Oh well.
