Culture lessons

Do any of you belong to a culture different that is different from the adverage person, relatives from another country, basicly what is your hertiage. I, for example am part Native American Black foot and Cherokee (who is out there who have Native American hertiage in their family?) and am also German and Irish. Anything interesting about your culture too would be welcomed, cause do I have stories to tell you.
Also anyone to America, your know how we have black history month, and know we have one for latinos, why don't we have a Native American month, I mean they where here first, then the "white man" forced them out of there lands. Sure you can trust the government, just ask any Native American. So this is a thread with 2 topics, both can be responded to.

Well kinda, it's not exactly funny. More as twisted and a bit tragic. Well my Irish great uncle was a part of an Irish gang in London or some other big city (I've forgotten which one). Well anyway, the gang got involved in a series of small bank armed robberies and some armed store/shop robberies. In his last bank robbery, he killed a policeman in because he belived the policeman was trying to kill him. He went on the run back to Ireland but got caught and was hung (hangings were still around back then) with the rest of his gang. Since I never met this uncle (the only people in my family that actually knew him were his parents and my nan), I see this more as a cool story than murder one.

If this a bit hard to understand, I'm not good at telling stories so don't blame me .

That sounds like a mobster movie! That is a story most people don't have. Hey is there any people with Native American relatives out there?!

I'm... erm... English. There's probably a bit of Celtic in me, some German, some Dannish, some Dutch, possibly some Scandinavian, possibly some French and at a stretch, maybe even some random European countries that the Romans used for auxiliary troops.
So, not really different to anyone else around here. At all.

I'm completely English, I'd say. Both sides of my family have been in the Birmingham area for centuries. My family is descended from the original German settlers who invaded and killed all the stupid, English Cavemen.

I have hopes of leaving the west midlands and moving to London, or another big city.

I thought the Normans brough Christianity to Saxon-populated lands, not kicked it out.

I'm probably much the same as Esus. I have no idea where my ancestors came from. There's no blonde or ginger in my family, so it's not likely to be Sweden.

Normans were Norsemen, Norsemen were Vikings and Vikings were Scandinavian. So the Germans Rich was talking about were probably the first settlers of England. Apart from the native English people which were the Celts but in a very early stage.

Yes, you know William the Conquerer also know as William Duke of Normandy, attacked the Saxon natives of England for the territory of Normandy which was at that time English. William himself was French, but the Norman that he commanded into battle sailors where from Germany. And I am boring you all to death

Hmmm, I was always told the Normans were French. But most of France then was directly or at least partly descended from Vikings (or Norsemen). But maybe I was told wrong.

True. The invaders I'm talking about were the first invaders, before the Vikings, the Normans and the Romans.

Ooooh okay, where talking earlier. It is the reason that the English language is part Latin (due to the Romans who come later on) and German (because of the German nomads Rich was talking about)

I noticed that English is very similar to Deutsch, that's why German is easier to learn than French. My ancestors were probably a big mix of all the invaders, but I'd say that the biggest "bit" that makes my family up is German.
More recently (before 1850) my family on my mother's side were gypsies! Gypo scum!

My family became "city people" during the industrial boom in the late Victorian era.
