Interview With Lorne Lanning

Credit goes to Oddworld Universe.

Interview With Lorne Lanning (17th July 2004)
Yesterday, after the EA Press Event in Redwood Shores, GameSpy siezed the oppurtunity and interviewed the Director, Creator and Co-Founder of Oddworld Inhabitants, Lorne Lanning. In the interview, Raymond Padilla asked Lanning a series of questions to which he answered informedly, and humourously. The interview focused on the next game, and delved deeper into the reasons for making the game as it is, and the first person shooter element. We have decided, that seeing as the movie is incredibly large, that we would write a transcript and grab a few images for those not wishing to download it.

You can download the file from this page: http://xbox.gamespy.com/xbox/oddworld-4/530956p1.html

Be warned, the file is 213 MB, and unless you are a FilePlanet Subscriber, you'll be waiting in line to download the file for at least over half an hour. And that's before you can download the hellishly large file.

It also seems that GameSpy have updated their image section today, with the images I found. They've branded their own insignia on them, and the resolution is so tiny compared to the originals.

Yeah, I had to wait in line for the file too. Took ages to wait, and then ages to download.

I'm currently in the process of transcribing the entire interview, and I'll get as many images as I can. We actually have some sort of logo, which I'll post right now just to tease

Okay! I've just spent the last seven hours transcripting the entire interview, and getting some images up. I deserve the party I'm going to in a few minutes

http://www.oddworlduniverse.com/features/gamespy.php?
http://www.oddworlduniverse.com/feat...y/gallery.php?

The movie is far too large, weighing it at 213 MB. That would suck the already dead bandwidth we have dry.

Dude! I just got back from seeing "I, Robot" and all this cool stuff happens while I'm gone. I feel so helpless when that happens.

Anyway...Oddworld-Web updated, with a huge thanks to Alcar. I hope I appeased you enough in my news-blurb, Alcar.

Razor-Ex huh? Okay.

I'd say this interview sums up everything about live ammo. Ultimately I'm a little dissapointed, this was all about live ammo and I didn't learn much that I don't already know. But I am happy to know that all this info we already know is coming from official lips, this time.

Stranger or a Steef in general. It looks bitchin', maybe the beast-like Stranger wasn't scrapped after all.

Prehaps he slowly grows horns over the course of the game and realizing what he is becoming is afraid of being hunted? Now thoughs are just my thoughts but theres milions of other scanerios(sp?) out there. I can't wait to hear more about this game!

actually he was aware of his problem before starting hunting, at least that's how I understood it, maybe the game could be cut in 2 parts, one where he tries to earn enough money to cure himself by hunting, and a part where he is the beast and with a different plot.

Finally got to SEE the interview. Took me all night, and part of the morning, to download. I didn't even have to wait in line! I got up this morning and saw that it was at 95% and it took 20 minutes to finish after that!

Well, it was worth it. It just makes me excited to see Lorne excited. I loved hearing about the cool little tidbits in the game. Such as...the Chip-Punk talks to you when they're on your crossbow. What detail! And, that the Chip-Punk's upgrade is a speaker system so they can talk trash even louder! I just can't wait to play this game.

I'm also really proud of OWI. They really have turned some heads...which made the press go, "What was Microsoft thinking? Why the hell did they dump such a gold-mine of creativity?"

there are better images of that background on Oddworld Universe, anyway;
We (or I am, anyway) are assuming that that is Strangers 'beastly' form. Hence the slightly demonic eyes, big twirly horns and large roaring mouth. Saying that, it could be any steef.
Better Picture

Yeah, forgot to point out my glee of Bolamite beating A-Wrapnid earlier.

If Stranger needs an operation... then maybe we will see the Vykkers, at least briefly. I love the interactivity Lorne describes in the game. Using Clakkerz as a memory aid to missions is a good use of them in gameplay, which will let us get to know them more. I do so hope they have a great part in the story to make up for their appauling appearance (which I am unlikely to shut up about, it seems ).

Xav came up with a cool idea: How about we capture Clakkerz eggs and use them as Live Ammo? Oh, how much glee the game would give me, then. *fires egg at cliff at point blank range*

I'd be careful people, as that poster isn't for certain an indication of Oddworld: Stranger's logo. As for that image, hehe, I specifically got that one for the purpose of showing Stranger and the logo at the bottom.

Wow, once again this is why I hate being gone I miss out on new stuff when its fresh. I still think that title Stranger as someone theorized that it could be to throw us off for now, or just a temporary title.
