:
CG Cinematic Production: From Conception to Completion

Speaker(s): Lorne Lanning
Time/Date: TBD
Format: 60-minute Lecture
Level: Advanced - Requires experience and familiarity with subject.

Description: This session aims to provide solid methods for designing and planning a project's cinematic needs, while maximizing image quality and enhancing the game's interactive experience. Heavy emphasis is placed on conceptualization and pre-production stages. Video materials aid in demonstrating aspects of production that are being used for the cinematics currently in production at Oddworld. Various technical and artistic approaches are discussed for developing methods toward maintaining shot-by-shot image consistency and animation amortization. This session also touches upon matte painting integration and character voices.

Idea Takeaway: Attendees gain a solid perspective on how a strong, efficient pre-production process can be structured and visualized in order to manifest stronger end results, while minimizing production time and resources.

Intended Audience and Prerequisites: This presentation is aimed at art directors, producers, writers, production designers, animators, lighters, modelers and others interested in high-end CG cinematic production. The novice, as well as the seasoned professional, benefits from this session.

Oooooh! How would a person like myself be able to attend this? I live in California, so it wouldn't be hard for me to get there.

EDIT: Nevermind. It would cost me a pretty penny to be able to attend.

You know I don't think it would cost anything if its a seminar. But I don't know the details on wether you have to pay or not. And even so I would pay because its defenitly an opertunity for me since thats what I am majoring in.

I can say this is for people like me and this is also a perfect example of why I am liveing in the wrong place. Since this is happening in 2004 I am seriously considering booking myself an airplane ticket and flying out to CA just to see this. Not only because this is up my alley towards my career but this is defenitly a chance in a lifetime to actually get known and get useful information towards my career. The same goes for you Oddguy since your going into film. This is perfect.

I would love to attend, unfortunately I don't have any stable funds to get me there......yet. I could maybe get enough moolah to get there by March. I mean, this is part of the business I want to get into. Entertainment. Anyway, this is how much a pass to this event costs.

Pass Prices

Or, you can save some money by volunteering.

Either way I would like to go.

Ooooohhhh! Cool! Another update for Oddworld Online

Well I would love to attend! The fact that it's in another country could prove to be a problem... and the fact that Im 13 and have no experience with "CG Cinematic Production: From Conception to Completion ".... well I'm enthusiastic!

I wonder if those cinematics might be a part of the Oddworld movie. Or they might just be for Steef, etc.

My guess is that we'll get atleast one squeeze of info on the next game before then (or at least I hope.). I'll settle for anything, new screen's, names, etc.
