Question Hand of odd

mmm...hand of odd although I doubt OI is working on it or they ever will,
but what do think it would be like?
I herd rumors that if they did make it it would be an online rpg.
If anyone knows any thing please post info.
If anyone has herd rumors or just wants to say something about it please do so.

Well, it seems like it would be a kind of "civilization" game where you control the industrial side, or the native side. Depending on what side you "side" with, that determines the fate of Oddworld.
As for actual game play, I don't know anything about it. However, there were some shots of it in the "art of Oddworld" book, but not too much.

If they had continued to carry it out I'm sure it would have been a really great game.

What, Similar to an RTS? That'd be pretty wicked. (Civillization and RTSs are different, I know.)

Hand of Odd, I have already imagined it, and all of it's game play. You could choose between choosing the view of one of your actually people or you’d do it from far away (like Starcraft or Warcraft) Whichever you picked...then you had different types of (if you were native) native characters do their job...and the same for industrialized...um and that is all that I have thought of for this post. But there will be more!

I don't know. I always imagined it kind of like the "age of Empires" games. However, I'm not too sure. But I imagine somewhat a mix between the two.

It would be cool if it was a rpg game and you could chose to be the industrial or the native.

Then both groups fight [like wow the alliance and the horde]
and if your industrail your a Glukkon and you have a slig army and if your native your a mud and you have a mud army.

I think you all have point‐and‐click–type interfaces in mind. Using the A.L.I.V.E. 2 engine, Hand of Odd would have you controlling one of three central characters and affecting the world through GameSpeak.

What would be nice is to see Hand of Odd on the Wii, with use of some sort of speaker, and you use the Wii mote to point to Mud slaves or Mud natives to tell them to do something, and then you use the remote to do actions, like cutting trees etc.

That's what I thought. Playing as either the industrials or the natives.
Building big pollution spewing enterprises or small hut with gentle streams
of smokes coming the holes in their tops. Sort of like the ANNO or Age Of
Empires series.

Hand of odd was mostly Pre-munch concepts. You chose a side. and then you choose 1 of 3 characters for that side.

Very cool! Even if it is only for MO... Maybe they might work on Hand of Odd after Citizen Seige. (Hopefully. )
I know it's a longshot, but...maybe.

It's the movie Oddworld inhabitants is currently working on. They strayed form the game making buisness a while ago, a bit after Stranger's Wrath and went to make movies, which was the original plan for the inhabitants.

Nope. hand off odd was made on the same engine as MO. These where just pre-game videos when hand of odd was still in the open.

I think you should bow before the knowledge of Xavier, who knows more about Oddworld than any of us. Those videos were developed by OWI in order to express what they wanted from the MO gameplay. This was fully acknowledged by Lorne in a presentation he gave at GDC in (I think) 2000.

nate's right, plus they were shown at the Oddworld stand at an E3 where they were presented as material for MO

and they were on oddworld.com in the category munch's oddysee movies

Jordan Boi, that Wii Idea sounds amazing.

Also maybe you could control over 3 different characters, you could control the basic mudarcher, and when he died, or you done playing with him, or had him set in the position you wanted, you could either hit a certain button and it would take you to the same menu that would happen if you died, and it would show all the different troops you have and you scrolled through them until you found the one you wanted, but see next to each thing there was a number and th number was the amount of them you had in your army, the screen that you scrolled through different characters would be like battlefront when you died and got to pick a new character.
That's an idea I have pondered.

As long as it was on other consoles as well (Without the cool wii features), I wouldn't have an issue with it.

The hand of odd idea sounds great but i think if they did release it they should release it on the wii, because you could act out the game better with it's remote. personally i agree with Jordon_Boi.

Ooh, lotsa people are liking my idea! Another thing, Hand of Odd could use the nunchuk as a second hand, like if the Land Muggers need to use the chainsaw, the player would use the nunchuk as the handle puller thing, and if the player was a Tree hugger, they could use the Wii remote and the nunchuk to chant and grow back trees!

Very good idea! They could do a lot with the Wii-chucks.
I would hope it could be for the 360 as well so I could play it...

I think it'd be awesome if you could play it with others online. You know, just like Age of Empires. You could build up your area, and then, when an industrialist army or native tribe (depending on which side you chose) invades, you could fight them, and protect your land.

If they were to add an online feature, I believe that the 360 would be the best platform to choose, seeing as how XBox Live has so many subscribers.

Xbox Live, I totally agree Snuzi! I'm not sure about the Wii gaming net, but I think they're sorting it out with Super Smash Bros Brawl, so if Hand of Odd came to the Wii, it could be online!

It would be pretty damn cool if you could play it on the Wii, with the controller and all. Although, I myself would still prefer it to be on the 360.

It's seems very right for the 360, as Oddworld has gone with Microsoft, but I'm siding with the Wii for now, I have no 360! The problem is, I don't want any other games, and I'm not buying a 360 and HD TV just for 1 game, still there could be some other games I like, when the prices go down...

Not true about the whole thing of Oddworld going to Microsoft. OWI had made a contract with Microsoft that their next three games would be on the X-Box only before MO was brought before the public. However, I think someone had died and let OWI publish games for other systems. I forgot how, but that was what happened. Why SW was X-Box only is a different story. Blame EA games for that.

Now, I believe that Hand of Odd probably will be released if and only if CS is successful. Pray hard now.
