Now that it is getting to be that time of year I thought that a thread about New Year's Resolutions would be in order. I've been having an awful time playing poker, losing about 25 dollars in as many days. It's really pissing me off. Even when I do manage to win money(not very often and not all that much) its at the expense of my closest friends. So after a very bipolar year and a half of playing poker like a fiend I said to myself: I QUIT!!!!!!!!! And I've never felt more liberated. My Resolution is this: From this moment forward I will never play poker for as long as I live. Very interested as to what your resolutions are.

Hmm... There's so many resolutions I should have, but I know I wouldn't be able to accomplish them all, so mine are pretty realistic. My number one resolution is becoming more organized along with developing better study skills. My second is trying to keep in and possibly get more in shape.

Oh, and there's also those general ones, such as being a better person/friend/girlfriend.

3. Having conquered two problems I see in myself, attempt to win the affections of a certain person.

4. Continue to improve myself physically and socially-- either way #3 comes out, it will be good to keep on top of things like that.

I also want to get into better shape, just for my own personal satisfaction.

Oh yeah, for the record, I listed mine in chronological order, not in order of importance. I think most of the problems I have with myself are due to my caring a lot about how others perceive me. Like, if I were some kind of hermit I wouldn't really give a damn how I look or how physically fit I am or anything like that. The only one that I see as a problem completely in its own right is my lack of work ethic. That one bugs me.

Mine are usually to do better in school, but to be honest I've gone past caring. I've got exams in May so I'll try my best. My reports are always good, but just not good enough.
My next one is to stop biting my nails, I gave up on that one too.

I am always trying to better myself. . . or at least moping about not being better. The way I see it, it just helps to verbalize something. Thus, this resolution is not an excuse to better myself, but rather a statement of intent. I didn't make these resolutions for the new year. These are things I think about all the time.

3) Improve my running endurance and arm strength, specifically.

4) Attempt to turn my worthless scrawl into a semi-uniform form of handwriting.

5) Brush up on literature, and attempt to compose some minor works of my own.

Just like 2 years ago, I want to put at least $10 away every week for a year. 2 years ago when I did it I saved about $1600. In which I got myself a big screen TV.

My resolutions are pretty similar to Alcar's and TheRaisin's,

1. Do well enough in school to pass my GCSE's with good grades.
2. Improve myself physically and loose some weight.

They are pretty simple ones. I'm on my way to both as we speak.

I have no resolutions. Unfortunately, I always tend to live only for the present, I have no idea whats gonna happen in the future. I'm also too lazy to pretend that even if I did resolve to study harder for my A-levels, that I wouldn't actually be too lazy to do so.

I've also resolved just recently to really apply myself to learning about computers. By the time I finish high school, I want to know computers inside and out like the back of my hand hardware-wise, and have a fairly solid knowledge of different types of code-- say, enough to make a website. This is partially because I'm going to have to do a "senior project" my senior year to graduate from high school, and I want it to be something I enjoy that I can actually use in the future, e.g. my own self-built gaming computer. It's also partially because I've never really been good at anything and I've never really liked anything enough to pursue it to the point where I can actually finish some sort of project, and I figure I can't live my entire life in a state of apathy.

Apathy sucks. Or whatever.

I want to put every last effort I can into my band.

Me too. I've already finished 6 new songs. We had a small gig few weeks ago, we played 4 songs, and threw and interlude in their somewhere. We were very well recieved.

In April we have a massive 30 min slot in a Battle of the Bands competition. I'll be using most of the new songs and some of the old ones. No covers this time. The new songs are rather different from our 3 1/2 first songs.

We have the Marilyn Manson-inspired "Cuts & Bruises"

The creepy but very original "Murmur" which has virtually no guitar, and lots of sampling.

A rather chilling song I have no name for yet.

The interlude we played at the last gig is now a new song, Steve wont let me name it since he came up with it though

Ghost In The Machine, which is a 6 minute long build up into one of the best songs ever, and finally Theories Of Chaos, which is probably the best song in the world And Skin, All We're Good For and Necrophobia from the first gig come in too
