Dr Gareth Schott BSc (Hons) Dip Soc Sci PhD is a trained psychologist with an interest in the ways in which new media technologies mediate human behaviours. Surprisingly, he's taken a big interest not just in Oddworld but in the Oddworld Forums. An entire chapter in one of his papers is dedicated to us. Now, this is quite old, so nothing recent from the Forums make it to the paper, but there are several quotes from General Discussion and the Fan Forums!

For example, when Dipstikk submitted work under the title
‘Abe art’ (see Fig. 5) Sligslinger commented: ‘Nice drawings … keep up the
good work, ps: may I suggest u make Abe look less elfish’. Dipstikk
acknowledges this critique, conceding ‘Yeah, the ears were a problem. I
forgot that they were immobile, plastered to the side of the head’.
Meanwhile, after praising Dipstikk, Alector focuses on standards of
presentation and materials for exhibiting art in the thread:
But notice: Drawings look much better when you draw them on
white non-lined paper. The lines disturb the pencil drawings a lot.
The … picture with the yellow background looks good [Fig 6]. It
shows the power of the Shrykull. The havoc and the danger of it.
The poem gives the drawing a mysterious touch.

Hmm, it seems like he was trying to demonstrate how fans feel connected to a 'world', I guess, and thus take some type of fan ownership from it.
I think a lot of his OWF stuff, particularly in regards to how Fan Corner works, is pretty obsolete and irrelevant.
Ah, we're not here to critique it, but to celebrate his use of Oddworld and OWF!

Ohh! Very interesting find. Not only because it covers Oddworld and our beloved forums, but it digs up a lot of the forums history, and some key elements that indentify this place. Dipstikk's art, the W@RF RPG that was mentioned at the end. It had some cool bits which made me kind of feel sorry that I chose that particular time to not be around. I missed most of the activity around here in 2004.

It's worth adding that his work mentions that he himself was on the boards, at least that's how I interpreted it. That means Mr Schott is a member of OWF.
