Art and drawings and stuff

Wow, look. I've been inspired. Not very, but a little. *holds up thumb and forefinger by way of illustration* I forget why. Ohwell.

Welcome to Khufa - it started out so well. :P Since inking the pic I've fallen mostly out of love with it. Grr. Maybe I could rescue it by colouring it... maybe not. BTW, that's Hak, Pru and Bea. I'll let you guess who has which name. The wee slogs are a desert variant, more like greyhounds than bulldogs, and not quite so neurotic.

Rek and 'Lu - might polish this one up, as I kinda like the pose. And no quibbles that there's no sligettes, I have a story round this one, so nyeh. *waggles thumbs in ears*

This last is because I have a dirty mind (If people object lots I don't mind taking it down. It just had to be drawn... ). Besides, Google made me do it.

Got some non-Odd ones also...
This was me working out what Coalition uniforms should look like. Yes, I had the Coalition long before Bush and Blair swiped my name, so there. This little bloke is part of Avocet's crew complement.
And this is Ivy, trying out new hairstyles. She used to be a slig - well, a synthetic one, anyway, as she's an artificial life-form - but she had an accident. And lookit the pretty hair, oo.

Ah, a comic-style. You could very well be the next McFarlain. You just need to work on the Slig's mechanical legs.

Just a concern, or...maybe it's just me, but that "dirty Slig thoughts" one...do you have a fetish about beating Sligs?

Never mind. Great work. I can't even scan in proper line-art.

Ehhe, no. Just look at what Google threw out (I think I included it at the bottom of the picture). What can I say, I think I'm emotionally starved. :P But then I find silly things funny.

As a sidenote, the pants are stylised - they always have been since I started drawing them 2+ years ago. I dunno, I have a tendency to anthropomorphise, and they came across a little more "human" and with emotions easier to read with that style. *shrugs* Plus it'd take me hours to draw them "properly" and I like to just scratch doodles out in 10min.

"I would pay you to draw Calen"

- much as I appreciate the sentiment, I don't think the copyright police would like it much.

And because I'm just silly:

The fact that you'd be paying me for a picture of something based on a subject I don't have the rights to, silly The fact it isn't an actual character doesn't matter - it's like Star Wars, TPTB will go after you like a rabid dog if you even think about saying you'll draw people's fan-characters for money... Blah.

Now that's funny!

As for the "sick mind" thing, I've seen a lot worse... heck, I searched for, and wrote worse!

I agree with Jacob, your Mud's are brilliant!
Keep it up!

You've got some good work there! (Sorry, I'm hopeless at giving compliments. It's all..."That's...really...good...do more." So original.) Anyway.

If somebody commissions you to do their character, incidentally, how can that be an infringement of copyright? That's what I thought commissioning was all about...you could lose yourself some serious cash there, y'know!

'Google made me do it' - Search engines can be funny little things, can't they? I like the way you've coloured this. God, my scanner mangles anything with a drop of ink on it (praise be to my Wacom and Photoshop, therefore).

Ivy is damn pretty. I'm liking the poses on Rek and Lu, though, and I'd love to see how that would turn out if you took it further.

Overall, really pleasing work. I'm jealous, seriously.

If someone commissions you to draw your character, sure, it's fine - USUALLY. It's when you start making money on characters based one something that's been trademarked you start to get into a legal grey area; the Oddworld species/characters are trademarked/copyrighted (I forget which - don't think you can copyright an invented species, but you can certainly trademark them) to OWI, and since a company wouldn't appreciate non-company people making money off them... It'd be like selling things under the Sainsbury's brand name, fr'instance, while the company can't copyright the name they can trademark it and you'd be infringing that registered trademark.

Any sci-fi creature or character is the intellectual property of the person that created it, I think it goes. And while it's not strictly illegal to create fanfiction/characters, it'd probably be illegal to make money off it. Even if it isn't, OWI could sue (doubtful but stranger things have happened), and I don't fancy having to fight it out in court.

As a sidenote, I have more art:
Nyen - the Nyen are a race of aliens from my fiction universe; not a very nice race of people but then someone's got to do the dirty-work... I have very much fallen out of love with this picture as the colouring is so blooming shoddy (I got fed up of it and it went all mooshed towards the end)

Ragh. This is Ivy (short for Ivory. I'm not very original with names. :P)- I was going for a more "realistic" style but I think I over-humanised her. My scanner chewed on it, too. Gr.

More information here.

Now I was sure there was a "number of downloads" marker on these things... must be a different forum has it. *shrugs*

Anyway... as ever, been designing creatures. The wolfish thing was designed off a brief given me by a friend, although I took some liberties and it went Odd. *pffts* Anyway. Lizardy-hyaena-flying-squirrell-thing. Yay. Fear it. :P

The other two are Lii (the goldeny coloured cob (male), who was captain of the Iila) and Aiya (silvery pen), who are Kiravai - based on swans (used swan terms for the nomenclature, after all. ) , and very mean to anyone who's not a Kiravai. Hurrah. Attached it for the hell of it.

On those two hugging things, the female one looks abit like my character Sasha. But Sasha's nose is sharper, her ears longer and more pointed and her hair shoulder length and straight. Plus she's a peachy colour.

Well done.

Heh, I have a "Sasha" as well, but she's a Nyen, so she looks nothing like Aiya... I vaguely remember you mentioning a while ago that the Kiravai had a similarity to how you envisioned one of your species looking...

Whee. Anyone remember these blokes? (Didn't think so :P) Anyway. Waaay back in '01 there was a trend for making everything suitable for a polar lifestyle, sparked off by my leetle polar sligs. Yay for fluffiness.

And this is just some silliness.

Edit: Ignore the sparkly edges, they're anti-aliased such that they won't have glittery edges on the page they're going on.

Hmmm, furry sligs. . . I think I remember them.

:
Yay for fluffiness.
Amen to that.

I like the aquatic slig, the way you've coloured it is awesome. It's sort of like an eel-slig hybrid. . . Perhaps I'm thinking that because of the 'electric' color scheme and the crests. Hmmm.
Oh well, they're both damn cool. Good work on both peices.
