ARGH! What the!?!?!? It appears everything within the last 2 days or so has gone missing! Apparently not only have posts/topics been deleted, but our post number has been decreased as well. Sydney warned us there'd be problems, but I'm guessing none of us expected something like this to happen.

Also the OT forum seems to be having some kind of display problem.

It just occurred to me, the fanfics, part of people's fics will be missing too. I hope Sydney or Abe Babe has a backup, or their will be a lot of angry posters!

I have no idea what has happened (Sydney may have a better idea as the forums are hosted on his server). According to the info, it didn't say anything about losing information.

Furthermore, when I tried to log onto the server, I can't see any files anymore! So I can't even check anything.

I noticed our personal photos have been lost also, but not the rest of the forum images. Something freaky is going on w/ the URLs to the photos. I'll have to look at that.

I have been backing up the forums every week, but my backup was about a day before what looks like the reversion. It usually takes about 1/2 an hour to back up, so unfortunately it's not something I can do every day.

What is strange is that Oddworldian hasn't reverted at all. All Sydney's E3 news from today and yesterday is still up.

Melvin: Oddworld Forums are not always down, yes there has been problems over the past couple of weeks, but this is all because Oddworldian's host is undergoing upgrades (remember Oddworldian has been effected by this also). Unfortunately something like this is beyond our control, especially in this case when they do not tell Sydney that things will be lost. We too are majorly dissapointed, and I'm sure Sydney will have something to say to them about it.

It's currently 4am here in Australia, so we will have to wait until Sydney's up... although I have a feeling he didn't think this would have happened either.

fortunately i have all my fics saved on a word doc, so i can just repost if needed. This still sucks though, i hope are able to recover our post numbers (not that i really care about that..) and the like..

Things like this happen and there's very little we can do about it. I've spent the last twenty minutes unchecking the "Lock Profile" option on each member so users should be able to access their profile and update their settings.

This was not caused by a hacker or a glitch, it's just a result of the server upgrading. The good news is that there will be no more problems. We just have to get over this current problem. Put it this way: things could be a lot worse.

Abe Babe is skilled in understanding and altering the UBB code, so maybe those members that seem to have lost all of their post count can have it upped.

We only lost a couple of days worth of posts, so we willg et over it easily.

It'll be okay guys...like Sydney said, only a few days worth of stuff has been deleted.

And the forums don't suck, and they are never down!

Abe Babe...Elumstable isn't down, you had me worried there for a second! Sometimes I think when I get a lot of bandwidth, or my server does, elumstable goes down for a few minutes.

It looks like for the personal photos, you will have to go back into your profile and just re-select the photo again.

I will work on resetting all the photos to either a random image or a blank photo so the forums don't look like there is a lot of images missing. Of if I remember what people's photos were I will do that (I remember most of the regulars photos).

From what I have been able to see so far, it looks like the posts were lost as well as the move screwing up the cgi that runs the personal photos. And some members (like Dragadon) seemed to lose their post counts. I can fix this... but I still can't log into the server... I need to get together w/ Sydney to see why that is.

I guess the worst thing about this is that it happened at the time of E3, but we can't dwell on it, and as Sydney said, now the upgrades have finished, the forums will be problem free.

well at the moment they have(i always forgets that forums are plural) sometimes the same damm problem as on the old ones. You post something and the post isn´t on the top of the list again, or your name isn´t displayed

I think that problem (where the name doesn't appear) is caused when a topic has been moved or deleted. When that happens it apparently doesn't show the last poster's name. It's either that or when a new topic is posted. I'm sure it's one of those two.
