Respect
Just a little rant...
Respect
Respect can mean a lot of things. In some instances respect is something earned (such as respect for ones employee). Most others it is expected (respecting the speed limit, your parents, etc).. But a lot of peeps don't show respect...they don't accept that others are and will be different then themselves. Like many religious folk for instance...they bash and try to convert people from other religions. They don't respect that their beliefs are different then their own.(I am tempted to go more into that example...but I don't want to turn this into a religion bashing topic).
The problem is that many people often judge before they get to know the person. They label them as 'queer', 'crazy', blasemous', etc just by their looks, actions, beliefs. Even those that have known someone for awhile, when that person suddenly reveals a different side of them...they judge them without first asking 'why' they feel/believe that way. Is that right? No.
I, myself respect everyones beliefs and feelings, unless they give me a reason not to. When someone judges me before they ask why I am like how I am, they lose my respect for them. If it was a friendship...that friendship would most likely end, unless the person that judged me has a change of heart and wants to learn the 'why' behind my thoughs and feelings. They may still turn away afterward...but at least they understand how/why I feel/believe that way.
Before you judge me...give me a chance to explain the hows and whys.
What are your thoughts on 'respect'? And how do you react when someone 'disrespects' you for how you are?
