Exclamation Shryskull Theroy

Shryskull.
The powerful spirit who was given to abe by the one of big faces, bigface to help destroy the evil deeds of the Glukkons.
But where did he come from???

I think when mudos was pure and mudokons were ones with themselves, there was a god. A god made up of the True Animals of oddworld, The Cunning paramite and the Almighty Scrab.
This god would protect and care for Mudos and Oddworld.

I doubt it's from the Mudomo and the Mudanchee unless they were directly from Scrabania and Paramonia, which is where the powers orginated. As you can all tell, the Shrykull is just a pretty mix between a scrab and a paramite... so what would happen if, say, in another game, as AN0THER creature, a kind of creature that tribal ancestors not in scrab-worshipping or paramite-worshipping, but rather in different types of creatures. He would be able to turn into a mix of those. Maybe Munch will learn how to turn into a half-sea rex half... thing. That would be REALLY cool. Maybe at the end of the quintology, they will all have transformations and those transformations represent the 5 gods of oddworld that have been split into three species: the two base species, and the carrier species...

I guess that's a kind of theory in it's own... the "Sal's Power Ranger" theory.... yyyeeeeaaahhhhh....

i hope they dont give the other creatures of oddworld powers like the shrykull! while it would be fun to play, it would take away some of the originality and culture that the games uniquely posses! The mudokons are supposed to be the spiritual creatures on oddworld, i would hate to see munch have the same kind of powers as our original hero Abe!

That's not quite right - the Mudomo and Mudanchee were around long, long ago and each only worshipped one creature.

Paramonia and Scrabania are where the Paramites and Scrabs originally come from - it's their home land.

It would be really out of character for Oddworld, yes. Gabbits are not a spiritual race, they do not have gods or beliefs as such - they're like dolphins or otters. They're cute and have fun, but that's pretty much where their philosophy ends.

Not trying to poke holes with anyone here, but it staggers me the amount of people who give suggestions that are 'really cool' but in fact are totally conflicting with Oddworld's nature.

Modern Mudokons have a very limited knowledge of their own past. The Shrykull is definitely in appearance a Scrab/Paramite hybird, but take into consideration that Mudokons only know of Scrabs and Paramites as being sacred animals.

If a temple to Meeches or any other creature were discovered, then the Mudokons would understand even more of their history. Alf is happy to have us believe Shrykulls are/were real creatures. But if they were an entirely spiritual creation, then if the Mudokons discovered Meeches were sacred also, I bet that the image of Shrykull would change.

Then again, speculation like this is inhibited by the fact that there are only two scars that give the power to transform into Shrkyull.

ok, I don't think meeches should be off topic ("gotta sell my fish", as they say where I come from) because:
Sal said that for eg Gabbits would trasform into a half sea-reax half-thing. Ok, like sofreakinodd, would not like this, I agree that mudokons are unique because of that and each race should have its own atributes.
But if we apply Sal's theory to mudokons only: Mundanchee and Mudomo would worship paramites and scrabs respectively. They would have a mutual link which would be the Shrykull, a god for both tribes. But if there were other tribes (which there probably were, although I do not have info on that), a bit further away and there were less or no scrabs or paramites around, they'd have to worship something else, and again 2 tribes each with it's own "mascote", if I may use that term, would also share a mutual link: another Shrykull (Shrykull could just mean "god" in mudokon language), a hybrid of, for eg, meeches and the other creature. So each tribe would have a pair, a partner tribe, that would share the same god; OR, each tribe would have a rival tribe, competing to have the favors of the same god (better offerings, games or stuff, I'm not saying they'd make war to each other cuz I'm not sure that's mudokon nature, even though I'd might get surprised).
This whole thing is because I don't belive the Shrykull we know would change it's appearance just because mudokons found out they had worshipped meeches, or any other creature, just like that, as Max the Mug, suggested.

I dont think, if Muds found out they worshipped Meeches long ago, that the Shrykull would change the way it looked just to satisfy them, I think that there would be some other form of worshipped God to do with Meeches and another unknown/extinct animal of Oddworld.

And I also dont think Munch would be awarded with spiritual powers as they arent really a spiritual race of creatures; more like dolphins/otters as I think it was Xavier, Oddsville or Max had said. Nothing mystical happens to him in MO, right? Well, except for his Head Port thing, its not mystical but it has a supernatural feel to it.

If anything, Munch would probably get some sort of evolutionary upgrade, i.e. he gets some sort of attribute/feature that Gabbits get somewhere along the evolutionary lines. I doubt it, but its probably the most likely thing.*shrugs*

Yes, Gabbits live like dolphins, in huge pods (no, not Vykkers Pods...). Alf relates their architectural abilities to those of the otters in that they haven't any. Obviously Alf has a very limited understanding of Earth fauna, particularly otters.

If Munch absolutely has to get new powers, it might be interesting to see if he obtains them by having more technology stuck in him, as someone on Dear Alf postulated. I'm not sure it would really work, though. Oh well.
