Just got GTA3 on PC. Impressive!
wow, people weren't kidding when they spoke about how detailed the world is. Little things that struck me at first:
1. the great camera. nothing beats flipping a car, getting out of it upside down and looking over your shoulder as it bursts into flame, drawing a crowd of curious people
2. the infamous flipping the bird to honking cars
3. people react when you bump into them
4. the way angry people drive off after booting you out of their car
5. cops have a realisticish line of sight, and you can shake them off on the first wanted level
6. the talkback radio station is hilarious
PC differences (I never really played the PS2 version, only heard comments from friends). Not much, but:
1. textures are sharper - you can read the signposts from half a block away
2. a radio station compiled from your own mp3s.
but...it kind of runs like ass. My Athlon XP 1600, GF2 Ultra has to take it on 800x600x32 if I want a smooth frame rate. And that's after lowering the draw distance.
I'm really impressed. It's the first non sim game I've played where actions had interesting consequences. And it's fun as hell.
