I was reading a bok on welfare recently, and some of the facts surprised me.
For every 1 dollar that goes to pay for welfare, 70 cents of that never sees the owner. Think about, you may have to send in a thousand dollars to welfare, hell maybe more,but seven hundred dollars don't even see the needy.
Now, that's the government, which has a track record of doing incredibly insane things with other people's money. What about the private sector? If the government stats are true, think of Salvation Armies wasteful espendiatures. Well, think again.
For every 1000 dollars you give, a whopping 8100 dollars go to the beneficiary. Amazing!
Now, lets take a gander at social security and its benefits to the people it is supposed to help the most. If you take a black, twenty five years old and analyze his lifetime payout from Social Security system NEGATIVE 13,377 DOLLARS!Pay off if fifty percent of OASI taxes are invested in US T-Bills and the other fifty percent lost completely Negative 288 dollars. Much better. But it gets even crazier. If all the OASI taxes are put into US Treasury bills, he would get a humongous amount: $79,846! Oh, but the numbers become even more gargantuan! If fifty percent of the moolah is in t bills and the rest in a broad equity index, the payoff is 145,764 dollars!
I am sure it doesn't take a human calculator to see what outcome is best. Hmm, lose 14 thosand dollars or make 145 thosand dollars.Of course, the system might never change one iota since politicians and the government have so terrified people into thinking that if Welfare or social security were changed they would become poor, live in squalor because Uncle Sammy can't bail them out, get gingivitis, become impotent and contemplate suicide in their filth and pain ridden conditions.
