Yes, I read books.*starts to walk away* Oh, ya wanted to know what books we read? Oh, thats different. lessee... I read:
Edgar Allan Poe(My favorite writer...he was probably a pervert in real life, sadly...)

Mostly horror and Science fiction... my favorite genres when it comes to books.

Older Stephen King, because I think his newer stuff is lame. He turned into a hack horror writer! noooooooo!

H.G Wells...wow. I love classic science fiction.

Richard Matheson...a pretty little known horror writer, his stuff is very different from most horror writers.

Art(surrealism) books.(I love surrealism..i like to learn about it)

Edit: ack! I pressed enter on accident! sorry..let me continue...

EC comics: 1950's comic books..they were banned...
If I think of any thing else, I'll tell ya. BTW, i haven't seen you around the forums. Well, welcome to the forums and have fun!

My family are all book readers, just about every room in the house has a couple of book cases.

Personally, I like fiction that involves crime and horror. I like some science fiction. Some authors that I enjoy are Bryce Courtenay, Anne Rice, Stephen King, Thomas Harris and Edward Gorey.

Eek! I always forget Edward Gorey! Thanks for mentioning him, Syd. I like him a lot too. He makes the best picture books, IMHO.

I HATE reading books! In my whole life, I've only read 1 book for pleasure, and even then I didn't like it. All the others I had to read for school. I haven't read a book for about 4 years now.

I love reading! We have over a thousand books in my house!

I've read Chinese Cinderella too, BD. It's so moving; I cry every time I read it!

Like Melvin, I enjoy reading about surrealism. I find it fascinating, and it's so refreshing as an art form because there are no rules.

My favourite author is Richard Dawkins. He is a geneticist and a computer programmer, and he writes books about Darwinism, genetics and evolution.
I also love books on heraldry. It's a huge part of British history, and it even has its own language! Azure a martlet argent!

In general, I prefer non-fiction to fiction. Gerald Durrell was an animal collector and zoologist, and his autobiographies of his animal-collecting expeditions in the Cameroons are informative and deeply hilarious!

I do like a bit of fiction every now and again, especially if it's funny. I will admit to reading the Harry Potter books as well. I was very sceptical when I read the first one, because I had heard that they were aimed at 9-11 year-olds, but it was so good I stayed up until 1:30 am reading it! I'm a really fast reader, too. I managed to read the fourth Harry Potter (yes, the huge fat one) in a single day! And not even in one solid reading session. I took two big PlayStation breaks as well! Top that!

my favourite authors include:

Iain Banks [he writes some of the best non-genre novels i know of, and also some of the best sci-fi]
Ben Elton [a bit of a *insert profanity here* in real life, but he writes hilarious and thought-provoking books]
Nick Hornby [hasn't written many books, but they're all gems]
Terry Pratchett [his books manage to hold a mirror to reality whilst still being very very funny]
Iain McEwan [only read one book of his, but it was excellently written]
Douglas Adams [just randomly funny]
Harry Harrison [the best "old-style" sci-fi on the market]
JRR Tolkien [adventure fantasy? can't get finer than this]

there are more, but i can't be bothered to think. these were the ones that sprung to mind.

hey Middles, what's the best Richard Dawkins book?

i probably have a few thousand books in my house...
funny thing:
in some assesssment thing that we occasionally get in an exam-type setting, Yellis probably, there was a question:
"Roughly how many books do you have in your house?
Few: less than 10,
Many: more than 100"
well, it was similar and there were a few options between few and many, but i think 100 books isn't many...whoever made that question can't be very good at spelling or anything like that...100, lol...

An Extract from the Exam Board Corrections and Clarifications column:

"AQA would like to make the following corrections: In last year's paper, what read 'Many: 100 or more' should in fact have read 'Many: 10 000 or more'. We would like to apologise for any inconveniences or wrong answers this may have caused..."

i have LOOOOOOADS of books in my room. it's because i have the unfortunate habit of borrowing books from my family and then never giving them back... i always give them back if the person who lent me them is outside of my family, but i sort of see myself as the family's library, so i sort of keep them. also, i'm the only member of my family who likes to reread books, so i know they're never going to really want them back, anyway...
