How'd you find Oddworld?

The title says it all. How did you discover the Oddworld universe? (Doubtlessly, someone's asked this before, but that doesn't mean it can't be asked again! Mwuah!)

My oldest sister's former employer, naughty as he was, burned a copy of Abe's Oddysee and gave it to her. She let me and our other sibs play it on occasion. I could see, even then, that AO is not only brimming with some of the most gorgeous visuals to grace gamedom, but it's got a perfect blend of action and puzzle genres' best qualities. Beauty and brains in one compact package, along with some refreshingly twisted humor to top it all off; needless to say, I fell in love at first sight.

To make an already droll story short, the burned copy was destroyed and I snapped up Abe's Oddysee, Abe's Exoddus, and more recently, Munch's Oddysee -- all legally purchased, of course.

So, what's your excuse?

I played the demo on a Playstation Underground cd. I has hooked. Pretty simple, huh?

I heard the words possesion and farts all in one game. Thats how I got hooked.

Well when AO came out I was not really interested until my brother brought it home from the video store. One night he went out to the local video store to rent a game he came back with Abe's Oddyssy. He started playing it and I was like Wow cool game. After that I was hooked ever since. As for my brother, lets just say he still stuck in Rupture Farms. He hated the game. when my brother stoped playing I was like playing for almost half of the night but I did not get very far. I thought this is a very intresting game I want to learn it and I did. So the next day my brother took it back and I was like so where is the game it's a five day rental? He's like I dident like it so I took it back. The next week I went out and bought the game. Finally this game is mine and I will never have to take it back. I started playing it and it did not take long for me to figure out what Oddworld was all about. I think that very day changed my life in a very good way.

Now I plan to buy every single Oddworld game that comes out. So I will have the untire quintology. Plus I will buy any system it comes out on. So far I have Abe's Oddyssy, Abe's Exoddus, and Munch's Oddyssy I am going for all of the games.

i was 6, my friends brother was playing AO, i got scared, so when i was 11 i bought it myself. lol. kinda stupid if you ask me

A friend told me a lot about, evry day (a realy fan).
So I decide to try the game, I was pretty good and I loved it!
But I can't find it anymore in the stores so I copied it, but now I have buy the Original

i played abe exoddus demo got hooked and buyed the copy and then AO i got hooked to the story line so now i just have to know what happens

I received a demo of AO when the PS1 came out in around 95-96, I got hooked and my sister bought it. After completeing it I got Exodus for a christmas present. Howere my AO disk received a bad scratch ... Thats how i got hooked

Yeah.. There was this "How did you became fans?" - topic which I answered already so I'm too lazy to write it again..

Well, okay.. I found AO..euh..97? when we were at my uncle's coz it was someone's birthday or something and I started playing it and I really sucked. I like died twenty times in a row when I tried to jump over the two gorges (is that really a word..?.. found it in an old dictionary..) where the barrels are falling.. Oh boy I sucked! My uncle was like "It'll take a week for you to play it through if you're so slow" and I was like "In one week? Wow.. I could never do it so fast.." *buah*

So.. every time after that when we were at my uncle's I just played and played and the other ones were forced to watch coz they had just one telly at the time.. My mom was kinda angry at me, but oh well..

My uncle bought me a copy of my own for my next birthday.And after that I played and played it all the time not just at my uncle's. So.. after a year or so I finally got throw it.. I got stock in the most amazing places. Gosh I was stupid.

Then I found AE in the store and bought it. Then one day when I was on a computer in library I tried out oddworld.com and it existed. From there I found Oddchat and when I was there on New Year's Eve I think it was Dragadon who told me to come here and here I am now.

Well back in 1996 we had a demo disk for playstation and it had AO on it. Me and my brother were playing it and it was just so fun. We got around to the end and it said "Coming Spring 1997" We just had to get it. So we both pitched in to by it my brother pitched in a about $5 more so he got to play it first. Then we heard about AE and we both got that as well. Then we got the internet and I went to Oddworld.com and I clicked on the link to the forums. Well there's me story.

This is the oddest story you wil hear. three years ago I was at a party and someboddy brought his play station along. He had some games with him and one of them was abe's exodus. It wasent playd until it was about 2 in the morning by that time every body was slightly tipsy and quite giggely so every time abe farted we where lauging hour heads off. It wasent until the next morning that i dicoverd the beauty of oddworld.
The guy who had brougt along his play station showd me the intro and I was realy impressed with the movies and how gameplay merged into the intro. I quicly glanced at the box the game was in and there I saw it Abe's exodus, up until then i had been in the dark about what game I had been watching along with. I also saw the next movie after he had schown me the trainig level. And later that day he play from a saved game end showd me he ending. So all in all i didn't even play the game that day.
Then about 4 months ago i was sitting in a tram going home and I passed this game store with a statue of abe in the shop window about a meter high. And i then rememberd the party and what a cool game it was. So I made a note to myself (I do this often since I forget stuf real quiqly) to go looking in the stores in the old games secktions and look on internet if i could find some cool stuf about the game. That is when I truely enterd oddworld. I found it a cool place with its fuzzles and mudokens and glukkens and all the other creatures and i started seaching for more and i found more. Oddworld inhabitants.
And then i found the forums and the fan art and the storys. .
But I stil havent play'd any of the games, and I had fallen inlove with oddworld even without ever playing them.
Now that's ODD.

But currently I'm emaling to some guy who has copys of abes exodus and oddesy for pc to buy them from him.

My freind had the demo of AO, i loved it! (more than he did) And a few years later i bought AE, then when i was half way trough i bout AO. Now im whaiting for MO(pc version)Even though its going to take a long time...

Some years i remember wanting a playstation and looking at playstation games in toys r us. I saw abe's oddysee and thinking the cover was kinda dull and it would be boring.

Then for x-mas i got a playstation and it had abe with it, it also had demo 1 with abe on it to. I tryed out the demo first then saw the game was on the demo so i thought i would have a quick go to see what it was like.

The short move was just mind blowing for me, i had neva seen anything like it, all the poor muds and abe stuck in a factory it was well erie it was nice to play the actual game and find out the video was a lot longer.
