Games and their endings

I started this stupidly named topic after reading UnseenProphet's comment about the ending to Max Payne.

Anyway, which games do you think had good endings? Both Oddworld games finished well, even if AO was a bit abrupt, and Tim Schafer's efforts at Lucasarts always had great finales.

On the other hand, most games end terribly...Messiah was awful, Half-Life made me want to kill myself and The Longest Journey couldn't have drawn to a close more crappily unless a giant The End...or IS it?? marquee had rolled onto the screen.

:
If you don't like your job, you don't strike - you just go in there every day and do it really half-assed. That's the American way.

If n e 1 hasn't played it they sooooo HAVE 2. It rulez!! Final Fantasy 7 & 8's endings are V.Good. Exellent even. I am trying 2 complete FF9 now...but i am STUCK!! AHHGGRRR!! AE bad ending was real good! And Dino Crisis 2's ending was also very good...very matrix kinda stuff at the end!!
K'z...i think i shud stop typing now...

Yeah, Opposing Force had a terrible ending...Blue Shift is meant to be better, though.

Whatever! That's an awesome game! But then again, this is coming from the same person who thought Silent Hill sucked... What part of Fear Effect did you see exactly? Explain it to me.

I hate it when you get a dissapointing end to a game. I just finished the Diablo 2 Expansion pack, and I found the ending very dissapointing compared to the actual Diablo 2 ending. The FMV didn't even have much to it... a bunch of swirls and stuff!

Oddworld endings of course are awesome, and the Final Fantasy endings are always good, although do often leave somethings up in the air.

My brother plays sport games and they seem to have really dissapointing endings.

Oh yeah - MDK2 had great endings for each of the characters. Bioware set them up like comic book readings, so the camera would pan and swivel around the static pages of a graphic novel. It worked really well.

King's Quest 8 has a dissapointing ending, you see how the world becomes good again (It was changed to an evil world by the bad guy Lucreto), but not what Connor, the hero, does after that.

Tonic Trouble does have a dissapointing ending too. Only a conversation whit that Suzy, no spectaculair movie like the great intro!

Fear Effect was losery and SIlent Hill was boring and my cousin wanted to give me Silent Hill but i was like no. Everyone has different views Daniel so chill, stop trippin'.

The best endings come between FF7, FF8 and Megaman Legends

Losery... Rrrrrriiiight..... And how exactly was it "losery"? What part did you see? The beginning of the first disk is kind boring, but after that it's all awesomeness. The only bad part is how short it is. Four disks, and only about 7 hours of gameplay...

But other than that, I love that game. The characters are excellent, and they actually feel like real people and not video game characters. The voice acting is the best in any game I've ever seen, and the movies are freaking awesome. I just love the gore and the badass action movie feel to it. The story is very good, but hard to follow sometimes. The game itself doesn't revolve around action, but around solving puzzles. And believe me, you'll want to solve every puzzle as quick as you can, so you can be treated to another top-notch movie sequence. The movies are the game's highest point, and there's about one and a half hours of them. I love when Hana takes off her towel, revealing her naked self to distract a guard, who is apparently very "happy", smiling like an idiot, looking up and down quickly, only to have his neck snapped a couple seconds later buy one of Hana's partners, Deke. Also, they said the word "shit" three count them THREE times in the game. I was like, "Holy shit, they said shit!" I really like the part when this lady transforms into a demon lady, and Hana screams, "I always knew you were a bitch from hell!" I was all like, "Woah! That was cool!" And I especially like the part when Hana walks into a meat locker (this is a part that you are playing, not watching), to find one of her two partners, Glas, hanging from a hook with his arm chopped off. I was like, "Dude! Sweet!" It's something you have to see to understand what I mean.

But of course, all of this couldn't be fully appreciated without awesome visuals, and Fear Effect has awesome visuals. They are the reason the game is four discs long. Streaming backgrounds give the game a cinematic feel, and the characters themselves look very anime-esque.

I give the game a 9/10 for good puzzles, great graphics, an awesome story, and amazingly, sadisticly sweet movies.

Now Pinkhaired... What did you NOT like about the game?

Everything! It was boring I feel asleep. Don't take things so personal Daniel because I don't like your precious game. I expected better from it's that's all. The cover looked interesting. How deceiving!

In ExciteBike for the NES you ge a spiffy gold trophy.
In Tennis for the NES you get a Spiffy Gold Trophy.
In AFL for the NES you got a Spiffy Gold Trophy.
In NHL 96' you get a whole lot of Spiffy Gold Trophys.

Can we all se a pattern going on here.

Anyway nothing beats Mario for the NES. After 7 times finding out that the Princess is in another castle, when you finally rescue her, you just get that warm and fuzzy feeling inside you, don't ya???
