Stranger Wrath....online?

Stranger's Wrath is being ported to PC. Does this mean that there will be multiplayer?

I would love to see a Multiplayer option, personally. I remember thinking we'd get one when SW was originally released, but no go.

But I hope it doesn't just boil down to, what, I dunno, customizable Strangers? If this happens, we should be able to choose our race/species and customize our character's appearance.

I don't think it'll be online. I just don't think there would be a way to recognise eachother because, I don't think there will be "customisable strangers" or anything like that, and I don't think Oddmob of JAW or whatever would bother to program all the species of Oddworld to make them playable.

I just found an interview in PC Gamer Monthly where Lorne discusses this exact topic.

When moving forward with the OddBox, we started getting some rather grand ideas. One of these was to create a multiplayer component for Stranger's Wrath. We've always been interested in bringing people together with media that has the power to question social standards, so yeah, multiplayer was kind of a no brainer.

We put together a team, and we went to work. I'm not going to get into too many specifics, but I'll say this. We finished it. We finished it, and we loved it. We made some fantastic multiplayer. Then we put it into beta. For a very short time on Steam, when you downloaded a certain game, you received the multiplayer beta of Stranger's Wrath with it. This is where things went wrong. We put it into the hands of the people, and it was an eye opening experience.

After the third time that I was called a "hippy faggot", I decided to pull the plug. No more multiplayer from this hippy faggot. No, sir. We are also cancelling our foray into social networking. I have realized, finally, that people are degenerates, and should never be allowed to communicate with each other.

I bet the whole Stranger's Wrath Multiplayer could work... But only in small games with friends only or chat limited to voice commands.
