If everything goes according to plan, Oddworld fans will have a lot to look forward to from developer Just Add Water. The architects of the upcoming PlayStation 3 remake of Stranger's Wrath hope to create a total of six Oddworld games in the coming years.
Speaking with Joystiq over email, Just Add Water managing director Stewart Gilray discussed some of the company's goals for the franchise (planned by original developer Oddworld Inhabitants as the five-part "Oddworld Quintology"). According to Gilray, the company's starting with side story Stranger's Wrath rather than the first true entry, Abe's Oddysee, because of the game's high marks on Metacritic, and due to the "astounding technology" Oddworld Inhabitants created for Stranger's.
"As I've said in the past the relationship is very symbiotic," Gilray explained. "Whilst we are doing the work on it, we like to involve [Oddworld Inhabitants], so they can see progress, they can suggest things, we can ask their thoughts/opinions on stuff, it's very much a co-production in some respects."
There's no telling what the team has brewing for the remaining five games, but it's worth noting that the total of six games could allow the team to remake the first game, then Munch's Oddysee, plus three new games to finally complete the Oddworld Quintology -- though that would also leave little room for a remake of odd-game-out Abe's Exoddus.

i know,but i read something that they are putting production on hold,there was a site that i found saying that the production is on hold,i dont know why are they playing with us,will they or will they not release the games....
well i didnt want anyone to feel sad as i feel now i hate when i get so excited with a new game that is coming out and then when you visit their site it says CANCELLED!
i hate that...i really wanted to play hand of odd and it never came out...
Am I missing something here? What has been put on hold? What article says that? Or is this just another person assuming something's on hold because Joystiq said 6 games when officially it's only 5?
Oh it's awesome, you should get it MM, and Scraby, you should get it too, it's on steam for £4.99, the graphics is AOE2ish but the environments of the game are amazing, and the variety of troops and tactics! Wow.

Dude, it's been out for 2 years. Try it out! Oh god, I love that one part, where you're like some guy, and you do something. It was superb.
Actually I think it was a bit too reminiscient of Halo, where you're also some guy sho does something. Although I must agree, Hand of Odd is certainly proving to be superb. Great entertainment value at any rate...
