You know what always bugged me?

Lack of backstory on Slogs. There's nothing about where they came from, whether they're natural or artificial, anything. They just... exist. Srysly. Needs moar information!

He didn't ask a question. He was trying to promote a discussion. That's what OWF used to be like, before all questions were answered and no new ones were provided.

EDIT: also, other than the possibly apocryphal story about the Mulletokon tribe, that TOE article doesn't actually answer any of Namida's questions.

The article also names several breeds of Slog, but if you read Alf's actual answer... I'm fairly sure he wasn't serious.

Not to mention TOE's hideous colour scheme.

Dogs just exist, so I assume Slogs do too. Not sure about the different breeds, though, as they're supposed to have queens. Maybe a certain breed per queen + family?

Well of course, you can say they just exist. But, what gets me. They're only ever seen in industrial settings, never in nature. So is there some natural place we never got shown where they're originally from? And if so, how come they're used as guards rather than meat - with sligs, it's understandable, but with slogs, being as they're not intelligent to the same degree (they just run around and eat stuff, although they do have a sense of what to attack and not what to attack *sometimes*), and yet scrabs are deadlier, what made Rupturefarms etc choose to make food from scrabs rather than slogs? Or, seeing how the Glukkons think, why not just both?

maybe due to meat quality (the meat/muscle may be too tough or otherwise unsatisfactory for consumer preferences), meat taste (the meat may not actually taste good), muscle mass (there may not be enough meat/muscle on them to make a substantial profit), fat mass (there may be too much fat running through the muscle mass and therefore this could directly affect sales), etc. also they're pretty small compared to scrabs, so i'm sure it'd be more beneficial for them to be used as a source of security rather than meat product.

and they're an exceptional means of security, read up on the link provided. they have their faults, but they make up for them, and they don't need paying or even feeding at times. a far as i know, anyway.

Slogs can be tamed, handled and bred. Scrabs immediately kill anything in the vicinity. A Scrab could theoretically be subdued (perhaps tranquilized) and dropped into a different position, but it would be too expensive, especially considering that Slogs are already readily available. You've got to remember that all Glukkons really care about is profits.

Edit: MA = Speedy Shit.

Edit: Actually, MM = Slow Shit.

Thought I'd add something, while we're on the topic of controlling Scrabs and Slogs... Remember that picture that was posted a while ago showing what looked very much like Stranger and Abe? There were creatures in that picture that some people believe to be Scrabs, and they appear to be tamed by some force. If they do happen to be some form of Scrab, then there are some that can be controlled, right?

They could be new or or or! Those birds in the first ten years book that where going ot be in Scrabania but weren't, I forget the name, but then those paramite looking things in a burning industrial facility weren't paramites according to Max

What?

I doubt the things in the picture are scrabs. The body is in-line with the forelegs, where scrabs have a central hip-thing and legs protruding from that. The ones at the back look slightly more scrabby.

I thought they looked like scrabs with saddles on their back. Alternitively, the handlers may have bred them into a more suitable shape.

Alternatively, they could be creatures we haven't met yet.

Er, actually, ignore that 'yet'.
