Best way to get best ending on AO?

Ok guys, here's the thing. The reason I bought AO and AE was I was a big fan of AO when I was a kid. I don't think we ever beat it, but that game was really long, hard stuff. I'm not really that good with solving puzzles, I mean I can do easy one but not hard ones. All of my favorite games (Metal Slug 7, and AO and AE) I put 'on hold' to play them on my PSP when I'm actually on the go. I don't travel much so, I play other games other times. This way I can enjoy the games and they last longer. I know, its weird. But its alot more fun for me when I don't play a paticular game for a long time, then pick it up again and play. I feels like a new experience.

Anyway, sorry for ranting so long. I know in AE the secret areas are littered with mukondon(sp?) tear bottles. So at least you know where they are, in AO, there's no indication. What I plan to do with AO is beat the game and get the bad ending, then re-play it to get the best ending (with the videos at the end). To get the best ending I need to save all 99 of them.

Now is it possible to figure this out for the average person without resorting to a walkthrough? Because the problem is after I beat it once, to re-play it again and use a walkthrough I'm going to have to have to play at the game at my computer (to use the walkthrough). I could print it out, but my dad would kill me when he finds out I used up his ink cartridge (heh)

Are there any guides for this game you could download to the PSP directly? Any tips on finding them all without a walkthrough? Because I'm leaving the state probably sometime next month and I won't have a walkthrough with me, of course because I'm not at the computer.

Thanks for all your help

Without using the walkthrough; you need to be really observant and try every single location that a secret entrance or exit can be; whether it's a climb-down point or a crouch and roll point.

With using a walkthrough; read a walkthrough and write down the locations of each secret place. Then have that list next to you while you are playing. That way you don't need to have printed out a whole long document; you just have the bits you need.

There are a couple of harder to spot hidden areas.

Sometimes, you have to take leaps of faith. You really have to think of everything, to find all the secrets. I couldn't find most of them without a walkthrough, but after a while, you get the hang of it.

Just looks behind everything. Barrels and down trapdoors in RF, down holes in FFZ, down lifts in the Scrab temple, behind rolling rock holders in the Paramite one, and just check anything that looks like it migt be hiding. Otherwise, Alt-Tab in and out of Sinjin's Walkthrough.

like MM said, barrels in the foreground in RF work the same way as the barrels of bones in AE, but you will have to make some guesses, pretty harsh without quicksave, (I'd really ther'd be a quicksave in this psn release)

But why print out the whole guide when you only care about the secrets?

I don't think you need to print the guide, you could play AO/AE with your PSP in front of your PC and when you need guide's help you can read it.

Sorry this is unrelated, but when I pause the game at the bottom of the screen I see this code...what does it mean/what is it for?

Given that it's unrelated, why didn't you just ask it in the Q&A thread?

Each screen has a unique code. That way if you get stuck and need help, you can tell people that that is the screen you are on.
