~[[Fan Corner Rules and Guidelines; read and get a cookie]]~

You now have a cookie.

Basically I've decided to expand on the five guidelines set down by Havoc a few months ago, which in turn expanded on some guidelines set down by Al the Vykker about 6 years ago.
Basically the aim of this is to try and keep this forum tidy and happy.

Fan Corner moderators reserve the right to add to or take from this list at any time we deem necessary.

1. Post your stuff in the right place.
We have two sections, the Fan Corner and it's sub-forum; Non-Oddworld Art & Literature. It's pretty obvious I guess but I'll point it out anyway.
Any art related to Oddworld goes in Fan Corner, anything 'off-topic' goes in NOA&L.

2. Make sure what you're posting is worthwhile.
If you read the little description under the big 'Fan Corner' sign on the front page, you'll see this forum is for the posting of two things: Art and Literature. Things falling under these catergories include:
Art
Literature

Art can include fan-games, videos and other things. But please, please, before posting, stop and ask yourself "Is this art and/or literature, or is it just stupid rubbish I made due to sleep deprivation?" If the answer is not 'art and/or literature' please refrain from posting.

3. Don't post illegal or adult stuff.
Please don't post things like porn, racism, excessive violence or anything else that is deemed of adult or offending nature. You will receive an official warning straight away the first time you post something that violates these rules, so don't.

4. Only post your own work.
Please do not post anything made by another person, whether they are another member, someone you know in real life or a person with a deviant art account that you looked out and went 'Whoa, that's really good! I should post that on Oddworld Forums!'
If you didn't make it, DO NOT post it.

5. Policy on fangames, screensavers and other 3rd party programs.
Lately I've been seeing a lot of these fan games pop up in the fan corner. These often come in the form of a downloadable .EXE files or, in the case of a screen saver or other fancy gadget, a file that needs to be placed in a Windows folder or something alike.

While I encourage the creativity behind the creation of stuff like this, I also have to point out that files like these are potentially dangerous and can contain viruses. When you do decide to download a fan game please take the time to scan it with your anti virus software first.

We're accepting fan made games for now but when we notice it starts getting abused we might decide to ban any posting of .EXE files. Use this privilege carefully. Me and the other mods on this forum reserve the right to close any topic (and remove any file) that we deem suspicious.
Making your fan game a little more trustworthy goes a long way, so if you can, add a few screenshots.

Oddworld Forums (and by that I mean Alcar & Co) are not responsible for any damage these files do to your computer.

6. Double Posting.
The Fan Corner is the only place on OWF where double posting is allowed, but only in certain circumstances.
  • If you open a topic for your art or story and have new content to add while no new replies have been made, you are allowed to double post.
  • If you have posted a topic to receive feedback on but haven't received any for such a long time that the topic has dropped off the 1st page, you are allowed to 'bump' the thread. If you still fail to recieve feedback, you may 'bump' it a second time, but not a third.
Anything besides the above is considered as spam and will be treated as such.

7: Thread necromancy
Again, this is another rules which we allow you to bend in FC and FC alone; you may revive an old thread if:
  • You made it and wish to continue using it to post art and/or literature of the same theme that it was used for before (so to continue posting a story, etc.). This way you will only need one 'My Oddworld Art Thread' and will not have to keep posting new ones.
  • If you wish to give feedback to an old thread, and the original poster is still an active poster in Oddworld Forums. If the person who posted the thread has been inactive for three months, please don't bother reviving the thread. The easiest way to check this is to look at their profile and look under their rep score to the line starting 'Last Activity:' which will tell you when they last visited the forums.

8. Moderators

If you have any questions about the Fan Corner feel free to contact Splat or Ajiellyn, who are the assigned moderators.

Failure to follow these rules will result in the termination of your cookie.
