So who else here is watching this epic Half-Life 2 mod?

http://www.blackmesasource.com/media_levels.php They update thier media periodically even if they don't update thier news very often. DevBlog says they're working really hard as of this month - Hopefully we can see some new things soon.

I've been watching this since it was first announced in late 2004 - The mod team have got something really awesome going here and it'll be really amazing if they can pull it off. Even what they've done so far is a major acheivement - And they're trying to stay faithful to the original game while adding and improving a whole bunch of new features. It's something I'm really looking foward to.

Now if only Oddworld had such dedicated fans as HL does - Imagine if we all sat down like they're all doing and re-made Abe's Oddysee or so. A guy can dream, though.

(And BTW as a side note, for those who are waiting for this mod and are looking for something to "quell your thrist" - If you have Half-Life: Source, the High Definition Pack now works with it too. It can be found here. Works for me and makes Half-Life even more awesome. )

I've been tracking this for a while now too but losing faith in this mod every week it goes without news. I like the approach of 'the less news we provide the more time we have to work on the mod' but their last news article was from 2007...

Sure they release some new media every once in a while but I doubt we'll get to see this mod done this year. It's the problem many mod projects face. Everyone is excited at first but the longer it takes the more people drift away from the project. The more people drift away the more areas of the mod are left to rot in a corner and eventually people lose interest because something cooler is already coming.

They should keep people in the loop a bit more, even once a month would do fine.

You're right, they should update thier main news a little more - It's not like they have nothing to show. The DevBlog is full of activity and the forums are pretty active too:

I can't wait! This and the entire moding of half life 2 in lego are some of the best mods for the source engine coming out
