Oh CRAP! What am I going to do?!

Has anyone had any moment when they've done something stupid and there just really is no good way to solve it? What did you do? (Try and keep it light-hearted)

See, this very morning I had a very important appointment to meet up with someone very important. I was running around like a madman, trying to get organised. I went into the garage to get my shoes (this was a non-shoe household) and managed to lock the door behind me. I had no jacket, none of my stuff that I needed for the meeting, no phone and I wasn't wearing my glasses; majorly screwed.

After fruitlessly fiddling with the doorknob for a couple of minutes, I climbed over the back fence and broke a window - not near as easy as it looks in the movies. I got my stuff together and ended up ready on time. I'm just glad that my friend's parents aren't around right now to see what I did to their house.

I've locked myself out of the house plenty of times, but there was this one time where it was imperitive I get inside. I think I had to get ready for something important.

Anyway, I had to climb onto the roof and then break in through a third storey window. T'was an adventure!

I never lock myself out...

... but that's only because we have a key hidden somewhere in outside our house.

I'm sure that important someone would have loved to know you kinda broke a window so you wont be late for your appointement.

I've been locked out a few times. Mostly I can reasonably expect a parent to appear soon enough that I can sit it out outside, but the other day I had no such help coming. I know one of the upstairs windows has no lock on it, so I asked my neighbour for a ladder, but it wasn't tall enough. So I decided to get some spare keys from my mum, so I went to her work place. Once there I saw that it was her day off, so I went to her house, picked up the keys, and got to my house just in time to change into uniform and go to work. That was a very unproductive day, but at least no windows were broken.

I've locked myself out (BANNNNDWAGOOOOOOOON), and attempted to break down the heavy metal back door with a sledge hammer, climb up into the 2nd storey bathroom window, and even through a small basement window about half my size.

Of course, it turns out that the screen to the front window comes off, and I could just climb inside by sliding it open.

My landlord didn't see fit to provide enough house keys for all of his tenants, and being the hopeless bastard I am, I didn't get one cut until Christmas. So, to equal parts amusement and bemusement from my house mates, for three months I had to get in and out of our house without using the door. Not easy when every door and window is locked.

I locked myself out several times coming home from school by bus, only to find I had forgotten my keys. The first time the garage was open so I sat in there drinking Sprite till my parents came home. A couple of times I managed to get a spare key from a neighbor. Mostly though I had to sit outside waiting for someone to come home, until my Mum got fed up and hid a key outside for me

And one time I was coming home from somewhere, not having my keys cus my sister was home and would let me in. Unfortunately she had gone in the bath and refused to let me in until she was done.

A small bit of advice to peeps who have been locked out...

If you find a spark plug, keep the white cermamic peice inside it, not the metal piece, sharpen it up with a wall or a hammer etc and throw it as hard as you can at your desired window.

It will shatter the window instantly and you can walk in

I found this out because at a tip in my hometown, a guy had trouble getting into a wrecked jaguar so he got a peice of the spark plug chucked it at the side window (and bearing in mind its toughened glass) shattered it totally

I've recently learnt how to enter my house without having to break any glass/doors. Haven't had the oppotunity to put my new knowledge into practice though.

Many, MANY times, alot of them too disturbing and embarrassing to go on about, but whenever I do think on the spot, I screw things up.
My house however is scarily easy to enter without breaking anything, that being said, the time my brother broke his window by accident was extremly useful in getting through, with the ammount of times I get locked out.

I had one of these moments when I forgot my lunchbox at home. Not extreme enough for me to break a window. Another when I forgot a jacket somewhere and couldn't find it again until one week later. One more when I called a girl in my class a bitch and she told my principle. The principle didn't do anything though.

The moral of this story; quit smoking!

I'd probably spend the whole time thinking of all the things I wish I'd brought with me that day; books, pen and paper, big-ass ladder...

(Poor guy though, couldn't even lie straight on the floor).

I permanently marred my relationship with my art teacher the other day. We're doing etchings right now and I'm behind on getting mine done. I was rushing to get a print done the other day, not realizing that you absolutely have to get one done otherwise the ink dries on your plate and it's ruined. I'm scrambling around to find this cloth which I need and instead I grab this ceramic blanket for bead making that another art class is using. Now I have to start all over.

What would you do with a ladder in an elevator (supposing it fitted in)?

Once, maybe when I was 9 years old, I was coming home from school. I had my keys, everything was cool... Except that the lock wouldn't budge. That's the worst thing: you have the keys and you still can't get inside. And no alternative routes here, since it was a flat on the 1st floor... But in the end, after 30 minutes of struggling, I managed to open the door. Happy ending.

Returning the 'Being-Late' topic, I have a more recent adventure. A few months ago, I had an exam to take. I went over to the campus, and on the way there, I remembered that I have not checked where the exam would take place. But I wasn't worried then, I figured it would be in the Castle (one of the campus buildings), just like every other exam I had before. I arrived to the Castle at 1:30 PM; the exam started at 2:00 PM.

So I waited there for a while, but nobody else came in that direction. At 1:45 PM, it started to get wierd. I saw a few people I knew heading towards building D, so I decided to follow them. When I got there, I saw that the exam would be there... for those whose surname fell into the A-N group. Naturally, I was in the N-Z group, so I headed to building A, following the instruction of a note on the door. In building A (1:50 PM), I found the designated room empty. I went back to the reception and asked what was going on. Of course, the people there didn't know anything about the exam, so they told me to go to building E, and ask there. Since it was 1:55 PM (five minutes left 'till the exam), I ran back to the Castle and asked some others there, but they said that there would be no exam in Castle.

At that point, I decided to sneak in to the A-N group, because I found no other options. So I sprinted back to building D and up to the auditorium, where I have found out that all students would take the exam there, and the note I read at the door was left there from last time... So I made it there just in time, and I didn't even fail. Enough said.

I can usually be found standing on the edge on the Southampton docks, nonchalantly watching my research boat disappear into the horizon once again.
