Well, crap.

give them 4 years to get the backpack sorted out and some sort of heavy tank armour on it, and every group just shy of total war is screwed over.

Indeed.

Especially the concept art at the end with what looks like a Cylon.

QFT.

Though I'm not sure about this particular company, it said they'd been making 'robots' for decades. Is it all 100% military?

I want one now, anyway. Obviously in a MJOLNIR suit...that would be so much win.

This is pretty scary stuff.

First BlackWater scares the shit out of me [I smell a coup, personally] and now super strong exo-skeletons that will surely go to the highest bidder hit the scene. That's just great.

Well I'm going to start an underground rebellion.

Just in case.

EDIT: Shit, bit of research on Blackwater. Those guys ARE scary, what with random shootings of people in Iraq and such. Shame the only implement i have to protect myself at night are some nail clippers.

What scares me the most is the fact that they supposedly parallel every branch of the US military.

Well, that and the fact that they're controlled by a religious zealot.

Every few months reports come out on how the military is going hi-tech. It'll never happen - in fact, the US military cancelled many of its projects in that department last year. The problem is that the benefits these suits will provide are just not worth the hundreds of thousands (if not millions) of dollars they cost

I don't see a suit like this be effective on the battlefield anyway. Unless they want to make a nanosuit ala Crysis all that suit is going to do is slow people down and restrict their movements. They may be stronger, but thats about it. I think a suit like this has more use on an aircraft carrier or a arms depot for loading ammunition or hauling heavy parts around. Won't ever see it in combat though, thats for sure.

Agreed.

I also have a hard time seeing the military shelling out the scratch for such technology. I mean, the soldiers in iraq are still using flak jackets from Vietnam for christs sake.

Did you know that Blackwater employees who got into a car accident with a U.S. military vehicle actually disarmed the troops and made them lie on the ground at gunpoint until they disentangled the vehicles? They have some fucked up people over there.

Yeah, it really is pretty alarming to know that their leader has so many people from the Bush Administration in his pocket. I mean, who sanctioned this? It's absolute madness.

I have a relative who's had several interactions with the Blackwater boys, and he's told me they're nothing but trouble. In addition to US forces being blamed for the majority of Blackwater's misdoings, they also manage to lower troop morale by having the latest and greatest when it comes to equipment, firepower and supplies.

This whole topic pretty much just adds to my 'Why Humans are phail' list.

The 'Why Humans are cool' list doesn't compare in any way, shape or form.

Do I sense compition between Brittian and America, but hang on, aren't they supposed to be allies?
If they worked together maybe we'd get something even better?
An invisble tank that doubles up as an exoskeleten maybe?
jokes.
Still, I wonder what inventions will be invented next.
I still think they should be focusing on inventions that help every day people directly, rather than combat, I mean, we may not even need combat if the right inventions get invented, doubpt it though.

Inventions that improve and/or aid in combat do help every day people.

Think about it.

Most of the important technological advances were made because of war...
