What do you think about before you fall asleep?

I usually think of thing of fun and interesting events that happened during the day if I've had a decent day. If I've had a stressful day, I usually lie awake thinking about what I didn't get done during the day and what I'll have to do the next day. That unfortunately sometimes leads to thinking about how much sleep I need so that I can function the next day, so I stress out about sleeping, ironically causing myself not to be able to fall asleep.

The majority of the time, my last moments before sleep are filled of happy thoughts of Luke (Aww...) and the positive sides of my semi-distant future (Since I'll be moving to Florida to attend college next year, there's quite a lot of fears that run through my head when thinking about my future, but overall, I'm really looking forward to it).

I'm not sure, mainly I just lie there and comtemplate the nature of the universe. Or I think about how to solve academic or social problems that have come up in the day. Or I will simply try and generate some ideas for possible future projects.

Generally I think [and daydream] about happy stuff that's going to happen in the future. [Recently it's mainly about filming with CYC and seeing Rich again ^_^] or some random daydream about somethine utterly fun and exciting, because my life is boring and I spend most of my time daydreaming about scenarios that are alot more interesting that what I should actually be doing.

Or if it's been a stressful day, I think about how bad the day was and how I could've made it better.

And I also spend some happy time thinking about Rich []. Aww.

I generally just listen to the sounds around me. Slight buzzing noises from outside the door, cicadas from outside the window. I practically live in the bush, you see.

If I'm in a pretty good state of mind when I go to bed, I usually think back on some high points of the day, or even very old memories that I cherish. I also tend to daydream about all kinds of stuff. I don't know how many times I've lived out the next few years of my life in my head (girlfriend, graduation, college, et cetera), without ever actually making any real plans for the future. In my dreamworld, action on my part is not necessary to effect positive change.

On the flipside, if I'm in an ungood mood, I think about points in my life where I said or did something stupid, or I could have made some slightly different decision that might have drastically altered the path my life would take. Blech. Not a good way to fall asleep, but I can never help it.

Or I just read or listen to music until I pass out. Steppenwolf (the book) and Radiohead (the band) work well for that.

Nothing usually... mostly just what I want to try to get back to writing... usually I can't think because of the amount of stimulus I need to get to sleep, and also how cold I need it to be in my room.

If I'm in a good mood, I fantasize about all the wonderful things I'd love to happen. Mostly I then realise that I'm being unreasonable, get down in the dumps and fall asleep.

If I'm in a poor mood, I cheer myself up by doing exactly the same thing as above.

If I'm in as miserable a mood as I'm in right now I fantasize about bad things could possibly be. It's kind of therapeutic, especially if I can manage to cry myself to sleep. I usually notice myself feeling slightly better the next morning, and that in turn boosts my spirits a tad.

I usualy start fantasizing about anything related to tigers (har har big surprise XD). What it would be like to have one as a pet, talk to them, be a tiger, ect. The usual novel stuff.

And every once in a while I try sorting out some details for my plans when I go over to England.

Wow , that was really relevant. I also think of living inplaces such as innsmouth or oddworld , but that usally ends up in falling asleep ( good ) and getting a terrible nightmare ( bad )

Actually, the other night I had insomnia over an exam and a possible date (long story) and I spent a while trying to work out how cuckoo clocks work.

Before I sleep, I practice my meditation so I can become better at Out-of-Body experiences (I recently had one; most exhilarating moment of my life!). I then usually think about what to do next in my comic books, or about the movie I saw recently (in this case, Saw II).

I don't really have much to think about, ever since I got the "cut myself" thoughts out of my mind.....

Bach! Most of the time I fall asleep as soon as I get in my bed. But if I don't, I think about things that happened during the day and you know, fantasize about pointless things or objescts that I would like to purchase. Oh, and if I have to much ceffeine in me (I'm a big cappucino drinker), I replay full movies in my brain. I've even got a media player in my brain.

Hmm, another thing I always do is re-run conversations from the day in my head and what I should have said or worded better. Then I imagine how the conversation would have went if I had said something different, and I have a complete conversation in my imagination keeping me from sleep.

When I was in 6th grade, I would run long musical pieces such as Rhapsody in Blue or the Pomp and Circumstance Marches through my head to help get me to sleep. It worked well, but now I am up to midnight half the time these days finishing school work, so that tool has fallen out of use.

I mostly think aout what happened through the day.. About school, friends and such. I also get all kinds of weird idea for stories and drawings.... Create worlds in my head n stuff... Bleh I'm weird :-/

When I'm stressed with a load of work to do I think about how I'm going to do it (Which tends to leave me awake for ages and is very boring).

I usually think about inventions, but that sometimes keeps me up, thinking of how my stupidly complex inventions would work. Also, semi-related, I think about what I might make in Spore when it comes out (my most recent is Arachnidus Tyrannus, an eight legged T-rex, :P), but sometimes how you could go about making oddworld species. When it comes out, I'll make a scrab and post a pic! ^_^

Especially these days I seem to literally laught out loud, slightly strange, but I always find something to laught about, it can be something simple like what someone said. Which is a great mood I got myself into. Before I used to think about more nagative things like problems which bother me, which results making me feel such emetions such as anger or deppression.

Sometimes I usally get myself into thinking about philosophy, ideas I have, art I want to produce, future plans or just think about how I see things in my life from an overview.
