Well... what does the speech need to be about? And why do you need to give one in the first place?

It can be whatever i want, e.g better food in the canteens, irish celebrations
There is no reason for the speach, my teacher wants to grade everyone on speaking and listening or whatever its called
And yes Havoc ill think about putting tigars in it

rehearse your lines til u can think of them from memory. People appreciate it more when the speaker is not constantly referring to their palm cards.

If eye contact makes you nervous, look at their noses. They'll still think you're looking straight at them

speak clearly and directly. Dont rush it.

I find it's best not to work from a script. Just have a number of points and practise until you know exactly what you want to say without reading from the sheet - only use it as a reminder.

I love public speaking, its quite fun. Memorize the key points in your speech so you can say it quite flowingly and all that. Remember, what happens on stage, was supposed to happen, what that means is, whatever you say in your speech doesn't have to be word for word if you didn't memorize it all the way. and they won't know the difference, cuz you wrote the speech, they have no idea how its supposed to go

Oof, I hate public speaking. Unfortunately, I'm going to have to do it a lot in my career, so I'm also trying to get over that fear.

It's really not that bad once you realize that most of the room also feels just as nervous as you. If you think about that, it almost creates a little collective-subconscious-something-ish bond among you and your classmates. No laughs at anyone else because everyone knows they're going through the exact same thing.

Anyway, some tips...

Don't stare at your cards <--extremely important
Talk slowly and articulate
Use appropriate pauses and fluctuate your voice (No one likes a monotone speaker)
Don't fidget. Stand comfortably with your feet slightly apart. No shuffly or leaning to the side or on anything.
But do NOT be a statue. Use LOTS of hand gestures. <--also extremely important for some reason. Just try to make it look natural.

You could also probably find some some sites with tips just in case any of us have left anything important out.

Yeah, the tiger-subject sounds cool but what kind of speach are ya about to hold? Is it and argumentative speach or?

Personaly, I don't like to hold speaches - the classmates and limited time makes me nervous - and I'm afraid to do anything wrong, like for example, mumbling and become shakey - yeah ya heard me; I'm shakin' the shit outa me every time when I'll hold a speach... that's so embarising and terrible

Well, when I'm holding a speach then I often practice a lot 'bout the subject. When I feel like I can the most of it, then I write down some key points to make sure I won't black out while I'm standing there.

Anyway, I held an argumentative speach a couple of weeks ago and I talked 'bout euthanasia - pretty interessting if ya ask me that speach went well though

Okay, uh, advice...

Choose a topic you like. Make is sound interesting. Try to talk clearly and loudly. Make eye contact (always a problem for me). That's all I can sy for now. You're lucky you can talk about whatever you want. Just last week I had to do a speech on the different types of leukemian and other malignant dieseases and the speech had to be 5 minutes minimum.

My advice is to do it about something that both you and your classmates care about. That way you should already know about your topic and be able to speak about it with some ease, and your classmates will be able to relate as well.

slip a few words in like "cocksucker" very briefly to capture the audiences attention

Well it would capture the audiences attention, but I don't think it would be the perfect word to get it; you may use words that makes the audience get intressted of your subject - eh, you ain't gonna have a speach of "cocksucking" that's too disgusting- believe me it would jus' make yer fellows think that you're immature.

Another tip is: jokes. Make fun jokes of the subject you're 'bout to talk about instead - it might not jus' cause attention, but turn in to funny as well. My brother gave me that tip once and believe me, it truly worked
