Dear Alcar...

Dear Alcar...

Before I start, may I say that you did a spiffing good job choosing moderators and what not. But something about the staff came to mind, although I'm sure we only need to renovate this idea in several places in the OWF.

Moderator Elections. Are we going to have them this year? I'm know that I'm very happy with the mods in OT, RPG, FC and so on, but our moderator in Oddworld Help isn't around anymore.

God knows that I love AlphaScrab [He's a cool person] and I know that he is starting University this year, and he sent me an email complaining about how busy he is.

But if Oddworld Help doesn't need an active moderator, do we really need it at all?

Perhaps, this is only a thought. Forum Suggestions & Help would benefit from it's own localised mod? But I can see the downsides of this.

It's just a small thought about Mod Elections for certain forums.

- Rexy

[Edit: AH right, my bad. I thought it was just AS on Odd. Help, but Xav is too. But isn't that stretching Xav to far? Like I said, just a thought.]

I have always hated the idea of Moderator Elections.
This is the only forum I have encountered that has such a ritual.

Quite frankly, Moderator Elections are either, a, popularity contests among the forumers, or b, not actually elections and the Admins just rig the vote to get who they want.

If we're going to be changing moderators for any forums ever in the future, Alcar and AbeBabe should just decide together and appoint moderators. It works fine everywhere else in the internet.

OWH doesn't actually need a moderator I think. Since, the being of that forum explains itself. And, anyone who knows how to help correctly... may help. Right?

Well, not quite. Since it is just a little forum for OW help... with simple rules...
And the spoiler forum just is a little safety... forum to prevent spoiling in GD.
That's about it for Zulag 1. I think.

As BBB says, it hardly needs a moderator. Also, I think Alcar should ultimately pick any moderators as he rigs the elections anyway.

Stop worrying about it and come back to bed.

Heh, thank you Rexy, I love you too .

As for my OWH-modship, I was quite surprised when I FINALLY got my internetconnection back (I lost it around februari, probs with company), I was still a mod. I was quite honored by the fact I wasn't "thrown out".

Now, since I'm starting Uni now, I'm slowly adapting to the lifestyle that comes with it. Meaning, that I know how much time I'll have for myself. I came to the conclusion, that I have quite some spare time. Although I have quite some homework (roughly 4 hours a day), I can do most of it in the weekend, leaving me the rest of the week almost free from homework.

With that in mind, I started to rebuild my Internet Time. Meaning that I'm trying to browse more sites, be online much more often, and, spend more time here.

Now, for the last part of my rambling. I agree with Rexy that OWH doesn't really need an active mod, since OWH is as good as dead. Almost everyone is playing these cool games, like Halo 2, or Battlefield 2, or GTA, and stuff. And since (as far as we know) there won't be any new games for a long time, and people don't play alot of old games (think AO, AE and MO), not many people will ask questions. I have spotted the occasional question, and most of the time, they're simple questions. But it is a fact, that there's not much activity in there.
Therefore, I wouldn't mind if my mod-ship was to be removed. Trust me, I think it's farking great to have the title of Moderator, especially because the rest of the forum elected me to be the OWH-Mod. But like it was said, OWH doesn't need an active mod, let alone 2. A super-mod could handle that quite well...

Just MY 2 cents though...
