Wired Is it just me or the oddworld games geting easyer?

Right this is wot i think becuse if u think about it abes oddysee for secrets had no way of loacting them and wot got me really anoyed was u couldent qwick save the game makeing it dubble in hardness :S then on abes exidos u can loacate secrets with the green bottles and qwick save the game. then onto munches oddysee for some reson just seemed much more easyer than abes oddysee or abes exidos since then u had the ablity to have more than 1 shot kill lol.

well anyone if u think the same pls tell me cuz i dunno i just think im mad lol o.O

PS:
im not so sure how to put it with OSW i dunno it was a bit of it all really easy at some points hard at others :S cant say for sure havent played it in a wile now O_O

Well. That's what I thought in the first place. But OSW shows me improvement on the hardness of OWI games. At least it's getting better.

But trust me, most of the easyness comes with the quicksave.
Because you can choos where you wan't to return after your death.
This can be a safe place which actually was very hard to reach.
Which means you don't have to do it over again... and get shot.

The 1-shot-kill was just perfect, in my opinion.(I love puzzelling) But they abandoned it for (stupid-)55-brew-can-shot-kill instead.
In munch's oddysee the programmers were more like, fixated on 3d landscaping. Which turned out to be... nothing compared to other games anymore. They weren't doing very much on the gameplay and gamespeak and character thingies.
In other terms: "Munch kinda like flopped in gameplay, but the graphics (and critters) were okay."

I have a strange feeling that this has been discussed before.

Jesus Christ you can't spell.

And Munch's Oddysey was much easier than Stranger's Wrath in my opinion. Besides, it doesn't really matter how hard a game is, it's how fun the game is. And Stranger's Wrath was by far the most fun.

Yeah, I can agree that they seem to have gotten easier (with the exception of Stranger's Wrath-I agree with Kimon there.). Munch was definitely the easiest game out of all of them, but it was the most fun for me.

It took me 2 weeks to complete MO and 3 days to complete SW. I thought that SW was easier than MO but alot more better and enjoyable to play.

Yeah, I thought it was better, too. It was much more challenging than Munch was, in my opinion. Although I had the most fun with Munch, I'd have to say that Stranger's the better game out of the two.

it depens on what games you are good at, strangers wrath was easy for some, but hard for others, and vica versa.

I think Oddworld will always stay the master of 2D games. But 3D games are just done way to much to make unique. Not even Oddworld can come up with a concept for a 3D game and make it original. In MO, I hardly saw any diffrence with lets say Zelda. Do this, you get that. Do that, you get this. You must do that or you can't go on. Ofcourse thats all there in a 2D game as well, but in a much diffrent form.

Obviously OWI didn't have a choice, but it realy is going to 3D games that made the Oddworld games lose it's unique touch. Which is probably why MO and Stranger both didn't do so well. The story was nice, but the gameplay wasn't in any way diffrent then any other random RPG game. Zelda, Fable, ect. ect. They all have the same concept and idea in the gameplay and I can't blame anyone for finding it boring after a while.

I liked Stranger, don't get me wrong. But the entire; Work trough the area, end up with a level boss and then get a shortcut back to the general area reminds me way to much of Zelda, if not all kinds of other RPG's.

Another factor is, that IMO, 3D shooters like Stranger don't belong on a console in the first place. The control of a gun requires a mouse and keyboard. Not some stupid Xbox controler. This is also the reason MO and OSW are so easy to beat. You can't be as fast with a console controler as you can with a mouse and keyboard and the game's AI is adjusted to counter that fact.

If OWI ever is going to make another game like OSW, I would for one recommend to reintergrate the 2D element somehow and mix it with 3D instead of doing it fully 3D. And second they might want to concider bringing the games back to PC.

Dead I Got Beat...Twice

I needed walkthroughs to get through both Abe games... I mean, I finished Abe's Oddysee on my own but I got turned into dog food at the end and I only got half way through Exoddus before I got completely lost, it's like;

*Abe goes up to Slig*
Abe: 'Cuse me, do you know where I can get a map?
Slig: FREEZE! *bang and Abe is fertiziller*
Me: Damn...

Yeah, that was me... You guys must be smarter then me... It was entertaining though, I haven't actually played Munch's Oddysee and Stranger's Wrath - haven't got the console - but I think the 3D gaming style is kinda suss, I liked Abe's games because of the way they were, but until I play, can't really comment...

Anyway that's my two cents.

When I played MO in the first place then I thought " Oh boy this is not that hard do complete" maybe it was some sort of problems when ya were stocked in the game but it didn't made me stop. The preview games were also alot more easier... but OSW changed both my mind and opinion; it was alot harder to finnish.
