An unusual thing about Oddworld!

You know when you play Abes Oddessy and Abes Exoddus it's almost as if in the background there is no surface. Like you are standing on the side of a wall. I know it is platform and side view but doesn't in some places in the back ground seemed to look like a vast canyon or a casem with no bottom to it? It has only large cliffs coming out of it. And also in some places you can see that Munch's Oddessy. I don't know. Its just a thought.

I liked the the background in AO/AE. Especially in AE, where I found myself stopping whatever I was doing and gawking at the background.
My top 3 backgrounds:
1. The Slig Barraks. Especially the huge orange-tinted window in the War Room. You only get to glance at it for a second, though.
2. Mosaic Lines. Look at those huge statues!
3. Necrum.

I like the area in the last stage in Munch's Odysee where you are on the balcony in Vyyker's Labs (the place where you meet Munch at the end).

Whoop-see. I think I drew attention away from the topic. Paramiteabe wants to discuss the the depth and perception of the backgrounds in Oddworld. Sorry 'bout that.

D'oh! The worst habit I have when posting in a forum is getting off-topic. Thank God there is an off-topic forum .

When I read this post, I immediately clicked on my PSX and put AE in. You're right! They do kinda seem like endless chasms...

I LOVE THAT EFFECT!!

The sense vastness each location has makes you realize how small you really are and I can just imagine myself in the middle of these huge environments. The task at hand and the area your in is important but then you can think about how big the world is and sit in a moment of awe...well that's just me.
