I finished the game, after playing it for unhealthily long periods of time, and I loved it. For some reason, it really did feel like Oddworld to me - especially the platformy areas. I don't know how they retained their feel in the games, but it was most certainly there and now I see entirely what they meant when they said it could've only come from Oddworld.
Especially the part in the sewers when the slegs were being ejected from a vertigal pipe to then run at you.
The pre-rendered cinematics were as truely amazing as ever, and even the real-time cinematics were awesome. Some of them were just as spectacular as most games' pre-rendered work.
I had a lot of trouble with the bosses, which didn't surprise me, and I think I caught 3 alive. Jo'Momma, Fatty McBoomBoom and...Boils Booty, I think. The rest I had to kill, and for some reason, I found Elboze Freely the easiest boss fight. Probably the only boss that that didn't kill me a couple of times. I ended up throwing the Looten Duke into some nearby fans to defeat him, after he had killed me a couple of times.
My favourite chapter is by far the one after the De Pantsing cinematic, pure brilliance and I really love the boat. It controls wonderfully and the environments are stunning.
Notice how Stranger was never, ever referred to as 'Stranger' again after he had ervealled himself? He became 'Steef' or 'The Steef' which I liked. And he looked really great as a steef.
There were a couple of real-time cinematics I think would've been better as Pre-rendered. Specifically, when The Steef first falls into the Grubb village after his sleep on the grass.
I felt that some of the Live ammo was pretty redundant. I hardly ever used the stunks. A stunk was immobilise a group of enemies, but most wuld be back in action after I had only bountied one of them. And then the Spark Stunks came too late on in the game and I think I used them... twice. And not very well, either
I loved the vykker scene, especially where he says, "That might be a little problem... for you." The way he says it with the hand movements is brilliant.
That might be a misquote, I havnt seen that FMV in a few hours.
The grubbs voice surprised me, and it took a while for it to grow on me; I thought Sekto's voice was brilliant though.
Oh, and their want of having extended 'Sergio Leone' style shootouts worked very well I thought.
