The Return of Oddworld-Web

Well after a longer than expected wait due to both personal issues and generally the fact that transferring content just seems to take forever to do [much longer than I expected] ... Oddworld-Web is now back!

Just in time for Stranger too.

For the first time since the site went online in 2000 it has undergone a complete layout change. The new layout includes reference to all the games, with a predominately Stranger based theme.

Credit goes to Oddguy for all of the Stranger content. And I'm sure he will be adding more to it as the game is to be released soon.

You'll currently notice the news archives are empty. We need to fill in all the news we missed. Plus I have the task of transferring 4 years of news into the database.

Thank you all for your patience, and I hope you continue to enjoy Oddworld-Web once again.

Yaaay, I love the Oddworld-Web website! I'm glad it's working agian.

Edit: The website still isn't coming up for me. It's working but some of the links aren't. Or is it just my computer?

Yep, already reported. I visited the Forums this morning at school and saw that the last reply in GD was to a topic called ‘Interview with Alf,’, but the director of ICT had blocked OWF, so I had to explore other ways of getting into GD without alerting Navaho to the fact.

I was then late for breakfast, so I couldn't respond then. But responding now - wow! I am impressed. I haven't had or got time to go through any of the content, but the design looks very pretty. It's good to have Oddworld-Web back.

Wow! I didn't know we were launching yet.

You guys will notice that the Live Ammo section isn't complete. I've had a bunch of stuff to deal with the past week. Bleh.

Anyway, have fun looking through what we have...and look out for some updates coming soon.

...Although it does have a few, minor errors (Like what games character's appeared in and such).

It's great to have at least one of the fansites in OddNet back up! Like I've said previously, the style is great. Not to mention how on Earth you curve the text around Stranger's feet. That, I must say, is one very cool effect. And the content is great, so kudos to oddguy as well for his Stranger's Wrath-ness

I enjoyed reading the interview with Alf too. Thoroughly fitting for a reopening.

I love the Live Ammo section the best, it was superb, both the pictures and the text (even if it was from the Instruction Booklet). But the sub-heading of "Upgrades" is appearing incorrectly. It's hidden under the second Live Ammo (not upgrades). And the Stranger Thoughts was a good read too

Ah yes, Abe Babe had the same problem. Browser compatibility is the issue. It actual looks great in Internet Explorer, which is what I use. Abe Babe is going to try and fix it when she has time.

Thank you...I'm glad you liked it. I should probably have done a more in-depth annalysis, but I was so darn tired at the time I was writing it.

Looking at the live ammo page, are there wasps in the game in the end? I thought they were taken out. What's the difference between wasps and stingbees? Also, do the wasps or the zappflies have upgrades?

The difference between Wasp and Stingbees is that the Wasps are used for sniper. And I think Zappflies can only be charged with more power, they don't have an upgrade, not sure though. Wasp don't have an upgrade.

Wasps are in the game. They're only used with the binoculars for sniping, and are really cool. Though, I think they look more like mosquitos...so that's what I've been calling them.

Stingbees shoot off your bow extremely fast and act like a machine gun.

The Zappfly doesn't have an upgrade, and neither do the wasps.

Hmmm, I would have enjoyed an upgrade to the Zappflies. But I can entirely understand why they were exempt from it, what with being the primary or initial live ammo.

A machine-gun sniper? It wouldn't really be that subtle.

I would have loved if they'd used the wasp design shown in The Art of Oddworld Inhabitants, but Sniper Wasps are cool, too.
