The Mask 2? WHAT AGH NO AGH Shit.

What on earth were they thinking? Has anyone seen the trailer for this? It makes no credit to Mask 1, and seems almost like a new story.

They changed Stanley Ipkiss (Carrey's character's name) to Tom Avery. I mean, yes, Mask 1 was heavy on Tex Avery jokes, but to change Ipkiss's name to Avery is so...pointless. What, did the director say something like, "Well, it's been a long time since the first one, nobody will remember.

Otis and the baby's "Bugs and Elmer" relationship is unusual as well. We're going to hear news stories about kids hitting their baby siblings with mallots, I'm sure.

And what's with Loki? Some kind of goth-esque overcoat for the costume does not fit the Norse night god of Mischief at all in Mr. Stikk's book. For god sakes, give him a water-squirting tuxedo flower or a hand buzzer at least! Or have him go around cutting off people's ties with scizzors, give him a little homage to the Marx Bros. Come on, people! He's the GOD OF MISCHIEF.

*gasps for air*
Okay, those of you who have seen anything about this, speak now or forever hold your peace.
I gotta go see a guy about this soda can stuck in my head.

*Update: The dog's name is not "Milo," it's "Otis." Ha ha, refrence recieved.*

Argh, I've just watched the trailer, isn't it a big fake ?
I didn't think they could make a so bad movie, what a waste !
I loved The Mask, but this one looks... yerk !
Sure I won't go to see, even if it'd be free.
*sigh*

You mean the Son of the Mask?

That sucks. I watched first one, and it's funny, back then.

No, I think most people won't see it because its been so long since the first one that they can't be guaranteed an audience like with most sequels. Plus most of the people who liked the first (myself included) one have grown out of that shit.

I've said it once and I'll say it again, this movie will be craptastic. I loved the first movie with Jim Carrey, but this one is going to suck. And what's up with changing Stanley's name to Tom Avery?!! What are these people thinking??

I'm guessing its not the same character. Remember at the end of the first movie he threw the mask away (into the river, I think).

Yeah, maybe not. But jeez, they could have at least gave him a better name than Tom Avery!

Hmm yeah. I think it hasta be a different storyline and different characters.

The Mask had such great potential. The mask was like an embodiment of Loki, right? See, that's a great premise for a movie. A magical mask that makes people do crazy things and holds the power of the Norse god of mischief, Loki. But no. It couldn't be cool. It had to be Jim Carrey and cartoony crap and stupidity and A SEQUEL! Damn them to hell.

Avery Tom ?

Arf sorry, that wasn't funny -_-'

By watching the trailer, it seems their is no real story, just a pretext to show 3D effects and jokes.
I'm very disappointed, they could have done better...

Yeah, I agree. It's going to be a huge disappointment, and they definitely could have done better considering that the first movie, according to the top ten movies list of 1994 on movies.com, did very well in the box office.

I don't think the first one was. If I remember correctly, there were some adult themes and innuendo. Probably aimed at immature adults.

The second one looks basically like a cartoon though. So it goes.

Yeah . . . that's basically what I just said. "Cartoon" translates to "for kids".

Yes, from what I've seen in the previews, I can't imagine it would possibly be aimed to anyone other than kids. It'll be one of those ones where the theater is packed with obnoxious toddlers and whatnot (you know, the kids who are always in crowded movie theaters) and a bunch of parents who'll be like "How can they enjoy this crap? God, I need a cigarette!" And no doubt the kids will pick up a few god-awful catch phrases and drive everyone outta their friggin' MINDS!

Hmm come to think of it maybe the first one was s'posed to be aimed towards kids. I mean, "Smokin'!"? Not exactly something that'll appeal to most adults.

I remember watching The Mask. I can't remember any single thing about it, though.

I watched the cartoon, though. The first episode that springs into mind is always the one where the person and the other person go into the future, and pigs have evolved into a sentient race. Oh, and the common cold is the only thing that can kill the Mask, I remember that. Really quite bizarre, and not subtly so. Still, I enjoyed it at the time.

There was a cartoon about the mask? What was the premise? Was he trying to save the world, or just indulge in some manic debauchery?

Oh dear, I'm suddenly the expert in this thing?

Erm, I think the premise was that Ipkiss didn't want the Mask, and repeatedly tried to destroy it during the start of the series, but came to use it to protect the world from all kinds of evil-doers. I believe there was a mischievious child demon, a time-travelling woman person, and somebody who had the Midas touch who turned everything into cheese where all characters trying to destroy whatever.

As time went on, it just got more and more bizarre.

I think I remember that one of the episodes had something to do with Ipkiss trying to stop these guys who wanted to turn his dog into chili. Or something like that.

When I get old I'm going to keep a shoehorn on hand at all times so I can malice the TV with it. Thanks for the idea.

Jim Carrey isn't even in the movie.

some Jamie Kennedy Dude plays the Avery Dude, who is a cartoonist and isn't Stanley Ipkiss. Surprising
and The mask belongs to Loki, who you also see in the movie, who is played by the evil little kid show owner on the first Spy Kids and he also played NightCrawler in Xmen 2

The original was shit, even if it made Carrey a household name. I expect the new one to be even shiter.
