Where your from, what's it like?

Where you are from, what's special about the area, what makes it, home to you, that somewhere else wouldn't have it.

I can think of alot.

Place: Isle of Man, Isle of Mann, IOM

Flag: The Three legs of Man, don't know where it comes from, but still, I like it

We have the worlds biggest water wheel, known as the 'Laxey Wheel':

We have the worlds largest motor race on a normal road, nearly every road on the Island is close for it, the TT races: Slady many people die in this race, so they may be stopping it, it has been going on for generations, and in 2000 they stopped it due to foot and mouth But now it's back on of cause.

The Worlds largest Turnip grew here, We have a small village at the end of the Island. It is called Cregneash (It's manx, I dunno what it means though). It is an old victorian eara farm that people live in, and do most things the way Victorians did it, horse plough and stuff, it's really cool. (Google it)

We have the best preserved castle in Britain, it is from the 13th century, Castle Rushen.

Vikings used to live here.

We have a tynwald day, which the Vikings started, The Lords of man (We don't have a king any more, so we use britains queen) would have to walk to the top of Tynwald hill, with the governor and police to protect him (Or now they protect the queen, dyou ever wonder why she's never in any of her houses on the fith of July?) And they would both have to make new rules. I think the reason the queen and govenor walks to the top of the hill is so everyone can see and here her. And the best part is... Everyone on the Island gets the day off school!

Well, enough about the Isle of Mann, lets talk about your homes.

I live in Norfolk. Well, specifically, 'King's Lynn', which was renamed from 'Bishop's Lynn' when King Henry VIII did his thiang. Flat, boring, muddy, with lots of farms. It never floods here, but its one of those places which is supposed to be under water in 50 years.

Oh yeah, that reminds me, I forgot to mention when we get rain, we don't see sun for another three weeks, and when we do it's for like two days, that's the downside.

I live in Budapest, capital city of Hungary. Its history goes back for a long time. The first town in this area was built by Celts, called Ak Ink ('spring rich in water'). Later, the Romans moved into this area, they called this city Aquincum.

In the 9th century, the Hungarian appeared here.

The cultural role of Buda was particularly significant during reign of King Matthias. The Italian Renaissance had a great influence upon the city. The second Hungarian university was established in the city in 1395 (the first was founded in Pécs in 1367): and the first book was printed in Buda in 1473 under the title Budai krónika (The chronicle of Buda).

And now, some pictures:

The Parliament building, next to the river Danube

The Chain Bridge ('LánchÃ*d')

Square of the Heroes ('Hősök tere') - one of the most popular squares in Budapest

Wow, your Parliment House makes mine seem boring, I always liked mine too:

Don't laugh OK, it's pretty cool inside, it has life size fiberglass models of old members of government in it, I thought one was real when I went there

I live in Bloomington, Indiana, the most boringest place in the world. Nothing ever happens here. It's too peaceful. There are no disasters, alien invasions, nuclear bombing, or anything of the sort. It just plain sucks here. Just a boring city that needs to be wiped off the face of the Earth. *Sigh*....

I live in Coesfeld, NRW, Germany.
36 000 people live here. It's very boring: no cinema, sh*tty weather, no good-looking guys, blah, blah, blah...

I live in a tiny, tiny village named Vingåker in Sweden. It's not much to look at here. We've got the dumbest politicians ever in the history of man, they think it makes more sense building a brand new train station that one or two people a year ever uses than hiring more people for medical, education and taking care of the elderly. They cut down on everything and give themselves more salary. God, I truly love them all.
But they're not everything Vingåker has to offer. We have the oldest and crappiest cinema in Sweden. Only small kids who really don't care what the quality is like go there.
The centre of Vingåker is a small store, a library (which is, in fact, okay) and the bank.
About 10000 people live here. Half of them are immigrants and most of the rest are 70+. Those that aren't are either braindead teenagers or young, depressed women.
We also have a volleyball team, Vingåker VVK. No one really cares about them except themselves.
Our hotel is close to being shut down, and I've never heard of anyone who's actually been there.
Our prime minister (I think... is that the right thing to call him?), Göran Persson, is born here.
We have Factory Outlet, one of Sweden's biggest stores for clothes. Mostly jeans.
We have a "castle", Säfstaholm, which is full of art. It's open for tourists 2 days a year. It makes me feel so proud.
We have lots of ducks.
The forests are pretty...
I tried to get some pictures, but they were all from 1920, so I thought it was no point to it at all.

We don't have electric trrains on the IOM, you wanna see what we use?

Trams, steam engines and, well, horse trams (I've only been on one of the Horse Trams once ! (Anher image of a Horse Tram:

And at Christmas time, because Thomas the Tank Engine is set on the Isle of of sodor (Another name of the 'Isle of Man') we have something extra on our trains...

Two Rivers, birthplace of the Ice Cream Sundae! Seriously, that's all it has. No battles or impressive buildings or great people came from it. The town is basically going down and in a big way.

I live in a small suburb in the Sydney Metropolitan Area. It's a quiet town, right on the banks of a significant river in our area. Not much happens here, it is mostly a residential area. The adjacent suburbs host basically everything you need.

I quite like it, but most of our neighbours are real bastards.

I found an old picture of my place. It's a bit dark, though. My house is like the one in the front.

I live in Debrecen, Hungary.

Debrecen is the second biggest city in Hungary. The name of the city first appeared in a document in 1235. It was the capital of the Hungary in 1849 and in 1944. Ok pics:

The Reformed Great Church (Nagytemplom)

Kossuth Square

The Aranybika (Golden Bull) Hotel

The Church with the Truncated Tower

I'm live in the most peaceful part of the city, in the Knézich Károly street, in the biggest house. ( I send pics tomorrow...)

When I write again, I show you my new renovated room and the place where was my Oddworld poster that I made in 2002...

An Oddworld Poster, sounds sweet!

About 200 years ago, on the Isle of Man, our langauge was called Manx, and it is in the Manx museum, and it sounds like some sort of Super fast French! My Brother can speak Manx, the government and public are thinking of making Manx our national spoken Langauge again... It's gonna be annoying learning it again, I get my bro to teach me!
