Question New oddworld games

I made this topic for games like hand of odd or squeeks oddysee.
if somebody know something about the games te it here please.

"Hand of Odd is about us using the technology of Munch, enhancing upon it, and bringing it into the multiplayer world of gaming. How many players will be able to interact at one time is still yet to be determined. If we can get 8 players at one time for Hand of Odd we will be happy. It will be enough. If we can get more we will be ecstatic. Hand of Odd will not be an online community in the way that Everquest or Ultima Online are. But we do plan to take advantage of features like downloadable units that will help to keep the world fresh even after it’s been out there awhile. Our most important function will be speed. We'll take advantage of as much as we can until update rates become an issue. There as so many questions that relate to the multiplayer Internet capabilities that are yet to be answered technically, that we can't lock down to the degree that we would like yet."

From http://www.oddworld.au.com/

Hand of Odd will be the fifth Oddworld game. A real-time strategy game, Hand of Odd will be the first Oddworld game which can be played online. With Hand of Odd, players will be able to choose whether to play as a Mudokon Tribal Chief or a Glukkon Executive. And who you decide to play as will determine the path the game will take.

Imagine playing as a Mudokon Chief - your role will be to help the native land grow and to protect it's resources from being used by power hungry Glukkon corporates. Trees should be kept growing, animals are sacred... it all makes the spirits happy you know. But maybe that just isn't your cup of tea. Perhaps you would rather play as a Glukkon Executive, with a world out there just waiting to be exploited for a profit.

There are forests to be cut down that can be turned into many items and animals that can be made into meat products. All in the name of making money of course. Hand of Odd will give you the chance to play on line with up to 14 other players, making each game a totally new gaming experience. Hand of Odd will take strategy games to a whole new level! Hand of Odd is expected to be released after Munch's Exoddus.

The Following from: http://oddworldforums.net/oddworldian/handofodd.html

The fourth game in the Oddworld Quintology, Hand of Odd will be a real-time online multiplayer extravaganzer in which you can choose between two parties: the land muggers or the tree huggers.

Depending on which side you choose, the game can be played from several different perspectives.

As the name suggests, the land muggers consist of Glukkons and corporate monsters who want to take advantage of the world around them at the cost of polluting rivers and turning beautiful landscapes into toxic wastelands. Forests can be demolished and species can be driven to extinction while manufacturing delicious products and mountains of Moolah can be made. On the other hand you have the tree huggers - peace loving Mudokon flower children who plant trees and nurture the land.

Hand of Odd's release date has yet to be announced as Oddworld Inhabitants focus on Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee and Oddworld: Munch's Exoddus.

The details on this game are sketchy at best. No release date has been scheduled. Check back in the future for any information on Oddworld: Hand of Odd that arises.

A game comming soon.
Not comfirmed by OWI.

Oddworld: Hand of Odd started development simultaneously with Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee, and was to be released not too long afterwards, featuring all species previously seen, along with a dozen more. The play would have been an RTS, but with none of the menus and panels the genre usually entails. A bit like Full Spectrum Warrior, in the sense that you would have controlled the action from the ground. There were three sides to choose from, though what those three sides were going to be in unknown.

Using the power of online gaming, it would have allowed multiplayer action and downloadable units to keep the game fresh. Of course, it was dropped, and I don't think it's got a chance of being developed soon. It would have been the first in the Habitales series of games, which looked at the everyday lives of the Inhabitants - however, the storyline for the game would follow a set of characters caught in the middle of the conflict between industry and natality. There was also an idea to set it in Oddworld's past, before Abe's time. This would have allowed the appearance of Meeches!

There was also an announcement about it on the old Oddworld.com, which was run by GT Interactive.

Just as a matter of point, other games mentioned by OWI not released include Squeek's Oddysee, as you know, Munch's Exoddus, clearly, and the possibility of Nod's Oddysee, mentioned in a lost interview with an Inhabitant. There have been other rumoured titles - Alf's Oddysee and even Dwayne's Legacy... though they're naturally unlikely.

Hand of Odd sounds like it would have been stellar. And of course I love Munch and Fuzzles so I would have loved to see Munch's Exoddus come sooner rather than later. But as long as they eventually develop these games, I shall wait patiently!

How do we know that? There hasn't been an official announcement to that effect has there? I thought they just said that there MAY be more Stranger games.

Well because this was on the official site, I hope it's still planned like that

:
What's in store for Oddworld in 2004?

LL: We'll see the completion of Stranger and the start of a couple of more projects that utilize our latest technology and cast. We've built an incredible engine and we want to get more games out to our fans without them having to wait for two years. We'd like to release a game a year.

I think they can, once the engine and the cast are done, a big part of the work is over.
They have to make up new stories and plots, and also new levels

Oddworld is about the inhabitants not Abe and Munch though that is a small part its not all. There are so many things we don't know that Stranger once again is another glimps of Lorne's world. For me I really don't care what the game features if Abe and Munch aren't in the game then so be it. I don't care I want to see other places other characters beyond Abe and Munch. I want to see this full depth of the Odd that OWI keep mentioning on the back of their games.

Hand of Odd is an intriguing game, but Lorne said he wants to give Abe and Munch some time off and bring Stranger into the picture.

I think it's good for Lorne and OWI to explore different areas then just Abe and Munch, and develop some new characters.

What's cool to about the Stranger name is that it can be used so many times with pun.

Abe and Munch won't be featured in Hand of Odd...
so they could also do it.

a different approach of the world of odd would be great.

Abe & Munch have had time off. It's been almost three years since MO came out. Xavier I really don't think that LL quote was saying that there would definately be more Steef games, just that the current game would be finished and the engine would be used again in the future. The word 'cast' can mean anything - it can include Abe & Munch and it may be referring to any of the Stranger characters

hmmmmm, could be. I interpreted it as there would be more Stranger game, but true can make Munch's Exoddus based on the same engine, why not.
