I can't imagine that any game developer would write for PSX/1 while the PS2 is well-established and PS3 is most certainly in development. It seems like stores are vastly reducing -- if not eliminating -- their shelf space for original Playstation and N64 games. While there's a tremendous number of Playstations out there representing an an enormous potential market, it seems like you'd have more and more trouble finding stores to carry a PSX/1 game.
As far as ME goes, the thing that sticks out most for me, and makes a lot of sense given the development history, is that OWI has said that they didn't have enough time to come close to utilizing the full potential of the XBox for MO. So, unless OWI starts running out of story ideas, which doesn't seem likely to happen with the minds that created Oddworld, ME ought to be quite a game.
