It's been said that the Vykkers are hermaphrodites...so any one of them could get pregnant...
Maybe sometime in the game,an impromptu birth might distract a Vykker long enough for you to get away?
Maybe they tweaked their life stuff so they no longer rely on a specialized queen to reproduce their species...
