We can hardly blame OWI for wanting to reach out to a wider audience, can we? I mean, the first two games, while very good, didn't do so well in the charts - most of my friends have never heard of Oddworld. MO is a more populist game, designed to reach out to the gaming majority, who are mostly younger than their current fans. While this was bound to result in a loss of quality, it is only to be expected...
