I was a free-lance operator. I didn't have any ties to the Pachini Family. I had worked with many different organizations and Families before, but I owed the Pachinis my life. I didn't have to go to Columbia, I knew I would though. I owed it to them.
"Sit down my boy, I am glad you came to see me!" said the Don in a scratchy voice.
"You are welcome Don Pachini and you have my eternal gratitude for helping me through my own problems. But I have come here to talk to you about ending our business relationship." He was getting out of his chair, and then stopped. He stared up at me.
He sat back down.
"Daniel, I do not know why you wish to end our agreement, but I respect your decision. You will find the money for your last service in a subway safety deposit box, it will be under the name Barglet and here is the key." He slid the key over to me, he did not look at me.
I picked it up.
"Don Pachini, you know very well that I work for no one. I do special jobs under contract and our contract is up. I have no allegiance to anyone." He seemed very angry. "But I do plan to take care of one final matter conserning your friend Paublo. Joey has requested that I remove some of the local FBI in Paublo's Medellin area. I plan to do so because I owe you my eternal gratitude for......" I trailed off.
He seemed to be pleased.
"Very well Danny, just simply remember, that for now, you work for me. I hope very much that the next time that our paths cross we will be friends." He got up and shook my hand. I began to leave the room.
"Oh, Don Pachini. I forgot to tell Mike to transfer $100,000 to two accounts. The names are Jack Tamler and Frank Bartla. If you could make sure he gets that message." He glared at me smuggly
"You should have killed them Danny." He said blatantly.
"I know." And I exited the door.
