I remember it like it was a week ago...

I was at school when I heard an announcement on the intercom that said I was being dismissed. I went to the office and saw my mother; she had sunglasses on. As we walked over to the car she took the glasses off; she was crying. I asked her what happened. She told me that New York City had been attacked. She dropped me off at home to see the events as they happened. I watched the events unfold all day.

One thing that really made me angry was how after the attacks a lot of Muslims were being discriminated against. One of my best friends is an Arab Muslim. A few people made up rumors that he was happy about the attacks, but it was not true at all. He lived his whole life in New York until moving from there three years ago. One person even pointed at him in a crowded hallway and called him a terrorist. It makes me sad that people can be so mean and narrow-minded.

My heart goes out to all the victims of September 11, 2001.
