Sligs in Dune
For those of you familiar with the book series Dune by Frank Herbert this should be interesting.
In book five, The Heretics of Dune sligs are mentioned. According to Herbert they are obscene, slow crawling creatures which resemble a cross between a pig and a slug. They have multiple mouths and eat almost any garbage fed to them. And they have good tasting meat.
I don't know if Lorne Lanning realized this or not but the oddworld slig was borrowed from the popular sci-fi book series.
