Read it? Now imagine something along those lines, but where Species X, aka the Khanzumerz, have some sort of spiritual/historical power over the industrialists - perhaps they hold some dark secret that the Glukkons don't want in on.
Then again, perhaps the Khanzumerz have a button next to their beds marked 'A-Bomb detonator', or perhaps they're clairvoyant.
